  2. The Different Flavors of Sponsored Programs When a sponsored project benefits the public .. Grants Cooperative Agreements Other names MOU, MOA, Research Agreement . When a sponsored project benefits the sponsor .. Contracts

  3. Sponsored Programs Common strings attached As a condition of receiving Sponsor support, the University will Submit progress reports on time (increasingly important!!) Spend funds properly, in accordance with sponsor and university policies (i.e. responsible stewardship) Acknowledge support of sponsoring agency Protect human and animal research subjects, the environment Comply with all applicable laws, statutes, orders, and University policies

  4. What are the Benefits? Enables the university/institution to fulfill its mission To promote learning through teaching, research, scholarship, creative accomplishment and service. Dissemination of research findings on a broad scale. And allows you to follow your passion and life s work, and contribute to the public greater good!

  5. OSP Services Train in responsible project administration Facilitate multi-investigator or multi-institutional proposal development Draft and format budgets, budget narratives, current & pending, biosketches, etc. Review narrative for inclusion of all required sections, formats, page limitations, etc. Authorize applications on behalf of university Negotiate/authorize binding agreements with funding agencies (federal, state, corp., foundations) Post award management progress reports, prior approvals, subawarding, close-out, etc.

Debarment & suspension Financial Conflict of interest Appropriate ownership of Intellectual Property Export Controls Environmental Health & Safety (with EHO) RCR (with ORIP) Expanded Authorities and any sponsor s special requirements
