Area F Courses for Fall 2021 FTFY Courses count as Area F/CRS overlay for FTFY Fall 2021 Course Prefix Current GE Tag AMCS 210 D Courses count as current GE tag and CRS/ethnic studies overlays for continuing students AMCS 225 C2 AMCS 260 C1 AMCS 165B FLC Schedule and Catalog Language: This course fulfills Area F OR Area LETTER . Course fulfills critical race studies and ethnic studies requirements. We are currently checking on the transcript piece.   12. Registration Advising Will hold back these 10 courses for FTFY registration for AY 2021-2022 and then open up any remaining seats during open registration. These are good options for FTFY Fall 2021 declared students or undeclared majors interested in: AMCS GEP CALS CCJS ECS

  13. Remaining 26 CRS/Ethnic Studies Courses Maintain current GE tags and overlays. Will not meet the Area F requirement. Will meet the current GE associated with the course for Fall 2021 FTF students. Will meet CRS overlay requirements for Fall 2021 Transfer students

  14. 2021-2022 Catalog Copy (and Transfer Students) General Education Catalog Year Students who began their undergraduate degree prior to attendance at SSU may be eligible to complete the general education requirements at the time they began attending regular sessions at any California State University campus, at any California community college, or any combination of California community colleges and campuses of The California State University. Critical Race Studies (minimum 3 units) Critical Race Studies is an important part of the educational environment in the State of California and is a key requirement to gaining an understanding of American multicultural perspectives. At Sonoma State, this three-unit requirement must be met through a course in Area F of GE. Transfer students may use coursework taken at other institutions to meet this requirement or additional SSU course options depending upon catalog year. Please see an advisor for additional information. Transfer Students: AY 2021-2022 will remain on the current GE program AY 2022-2023 CO working on a plan to automatically identify transfer students on catalog years prior to Fall 2021

Remaining Tasks Determine the fate of the CRS overlay requirement Update the charges of the GE and Overlay Subcommittee (EPC Working Group formed) Update the primary GE curriculum document to reflect Area F change Determine content area criteria for Area F (with required core competencies) Clarify role of ethnic studies faculty in the Area F course approval process Clarify the LD status of Area F when UD courses are indicated to count Clarify cross-listing requirements and establish FTES distribution mechanism
