  1. Statistics Club General Body Meeting Wednesday, January 11th

  2. Welcome Fresh start to new semester!

  3. Agenda Introduction from stat club Future events Reverse career fair Datafest Mu Sigma Rho application Officer Election

Introduction from new advisor David Hunter Professor and head, Penn State Department of Statistics This fall, he is teaching STAT 200, Elementary Statistics Research included networks, mixture models, MM algorithm, and asymptotics The Department of Statistics is going to try something new this semester: Undergraduate Teaching Assistants (UTAs)

  5. Future Events Reverse career fair Hosted by Career Services and Student Activities, this fair took place usually early February. Imagine the Involvement Fair with employers interested in connecting with your organization instead of students!

  6. Reverse Career Fair Looking for 2 student representatives to show up and stay at their booth for the whole time Students representatives would be prioritize by status (senior, then junior, etc.) because the younger students can have a chance to go in the future. Not limited to stat major, a mix of major students would be chosen if possible. We encourage all club members to take advantage of this great opportunity to network with employers and create influential partnerships.

  7. Future Events Datafest A weekend-long statistical modeling competition being held the weekend in late April.

  8. Future Events Mu Sigma Rho Mu Sigma Rho is the national honor society for statistics students, both graduate and undergraduate. The purpose of Mu Sigma Rho is the promotion and encouragement of scholarly activity and recognition of achievement in statistics. The annual induction is hosted by Stat Club.

  9. Mu Sigma Rho Benefits: Become a part of a national statistics community List the honor society on your resume One year free membership to American Statistical Association (ASA) Mu Sigma Rho cords at graduation NO cost!

  10. Mu Sigma Rho Eligibility criteria for undergraduate students: At least two years of college coursework completed At least 8 credits of statistics coursework completed, with at least 5 of those credits at the 400 level or higher A GPA of at least 3.40 in all undergraduate-level statistics courses An overall GPA of at least 3.20 Eligibility criteria for graduate students: At least 12 credits of graduate-level statistics coursework A GPA of at least 3.50 in all graduate-level courses In good standing as a graduate student

  11. Officer Election Many Openings! Vice president Secretary Webmaster Active club members (attended at least 3 club meetings including this one) are eligible to run for Stat Club office. President must also be a member of Mu Sigma Rho. The office of President must be filled by a previous officer whenever possible.
