  1. HOW TO BE AWARE OF ONLINE DANGER GEORGE SABA 7C

  2. NEVER MEET UP WITH AN ONLINE FRIEND IN PERSON, EVEN IF YOU THINK YOU KNOW THAT PERSON WELL. Meeting someone from a chat group or a social networking website could be dangerous. Online friends are still strangers and may not be who they say they are.

  3. DO NOT ACCEPT EMAILS OR FRIEND REQUESTS FROM PEOPLE YOU DO NOT KNOW. Messages may contain viruses or unpleasant information and images. Also, remember that friends on social and gaming networks can see and share what you post. Do you want strangers to see everything that you post?

  4. NOT ALL OF THE INFORMATION OR PEOPLE ONLINE ARE RELIABLE, THERE IS A LOT OF FALSE INFORMATION. Always check that the information is correct and use reputable sources. Also, some people post false information or use fake identities online to cause harm and trick people.

  5. TELL A TRUSTED ADULT IF ANYTHING ONLINE MAKES YOU FEEL UNCOMFORTABLE. Many chat rooms and social networking websites have support email addresses or alert buttons that enable users to report inappropriate behavior, including bullying. You can log off if you are uncomfortable or suspicious of anything.

  6. THINK BEFORE YOU POST Don t post before thinking CAREFULLY and ask: Is it offensive? Could it affect your future employment? Would you be happy for your parents or family to see it?

  7. ARE THEY REAL? Do you know this friend in real life? Are you really sure its their account, not someone pretending to be them? Remember: Some people are VERY clever at pretending to be someone their not.

  8. REMEMBER Nothing is private Don t say anything you wouldn t say in real life Don t post other people s photos NEVER post invitations unless you are absolutely sure they will only be seen by a closed group
