Scope of Project The Stone County School District desires to move forward with a bond issue to build: A new high school that is safe, efficient and has the infrastructure to meet the academic and workforce training needs of all students and staff Infrastructure to accommodate future growth and expansion A football stadium that belongs to the students, parents, faculty and staff of the Stone County School District 2

  3. Project History Gulf Coast Restoration Funds Received $6.4 Million with a 20% match from the district Two year effort to attain funding for Career and Technical Education Center This grant closed the discrepancy between bonding capacity and projected cost of the new high school project In Lieu Lands Sold 100 acres of land to the Stone County Economic Development Partnership for development of an Industrial Park Proceeds from sale must be allocated to replace comparable property The SCSD purchased 45 additional acres next to the 40 acres that were donated in a prime location 3

  4. Increased Safety and Security Fewer entry and exit points Secure entrances with safety features for both students and staff Controlled traffic patterns Well lit exterior spaces 4

  5. Modern Design for Instruction Sufficient room for all programs including Special Education and Title programs, and Fine Arts Intervention and breakout space Space for counseling and workforce development services Space for new and innovative technology programs 5

Reliable Infrastructure Modern up-to-date mechanical and electrical systems More dependable infrastructure including technology Facilities built to international and state building codes Energy efficiency Safe and efficient transportation routes to facilitate both buses and automobiles to include routes for students, staff and parents (drop off and pick up) 6

Room for Growth 85 acres available for development 40 acres donated by Dan O Neal and Wynn Alexander 45 acres purchased as in lieu lands Enough property for future development to include: Combined Elementary School (K-2, 3-5) Middle School Transportation Department Central Office Sports Complex This new growth will open up existing buildings for future programs to include PreK and Boys and Girls Club 7
