  1. SRCC Meeting April 2023 Meeting recap and some take aways

  2. Workshops o Crisis and Issues Management - Professional development session where we learned best practices and shared examples from each institution. Included a work session to craft holding statements. o SRCC Strategic Planning - A large bulk of our time was spent discussing where we want to go as an organization and putting in print our goals and how we will get there. o Bouncing Back after Burnout - professional development session to share strategies to manage large complex offices with multiple deadlines and the inevitable burnout that comes with it. o Communicating Science - best practice session on telling our stories and connecting with researchers. o Website Roundtable - brief session to outline the design for a new outward facing SAAESD website.

  3. Joint workshops o Seeking Success with Stakeholders - moderated panel made up of stakeholder groups o Communications and Media Training: Am I prepared to meet the press - designed as an interactive workshop, however the presenter went off script and discussed Crisis Management

  4. SRCC Post Meeting Survey o Extremely satisfied with the SRCC meeting with the Directors o Key takeaways: Creating deeper connections with communication peers at other experiment stations and establishing a plan for moving forward with content creation. I am hopeful that the directors have a broader appreciation for what it takes to have successful communications and marketing efforts. Hearing from our directors and gathering as a group to move the mission of our committee forward. o Lessons to take back to their institutions: Prioritizing an editorial calendar for managing workflow Importance of crisis communications plans Media Training Ways to tell our story better o Supportive of continuing to meet jointly with Directors

  5. Regional Strategic Research Communications Roadmap developed at the meeting FINALIZED AND APPROVED BY THE SRCC MEMBERSHIP AUGUST 29, 2023. THREE MAJOR GOALS AND UNDER EACH GOAL THERE ARE METRICS TO MEASURE SUCCESS.

Other Notable SRCC Accomplishments in 2023 S1095 Science Communication in Agriculture, Food, and Natural Resources: Human Science Research and Workforce Development o approved October 1, 2023 Survey to identify Research Priority stories and develop an editorial calendar for story collaborations. o Identified responsibilities for the 7 main topic areas identified in our strategic roadmap o Identified leads on stories under the main topic areas SRCC members collaborated with Faith Peppers from NIFA for the Communications Panel at the ARD-SAAESD Joint Meeting

  7. Other Notable SRCC Accomplishments in 2023 Monthly zoom meetings include best practices, institution and communication office organization. o Best practice topics: project management software, creating accessible PDF s, and website compliance Collaborated on stories o Turfgrass - released September 2023 o Plant Breeding - released April 2023 o Feral Hogs - released March 2023
