COMPLETING THIS MATRIX Each page has 8 Strategic Skills. Your task is to mark yourself honestly at each of the 3 Levels for those 8 Skills For example, for Culture you may have a good idea WHY this is important (Level 1 is Green) but not know WHAT you need to do (Level 2 is Red) You can change the colour of a Balloon by clicking on it, and in the Format tab changing the Shape Fill to either Green, Yellow, or Red Green = Doing this; Yellow = Early Application;Red = Not Yet Once you go Red, you can t go back. You can t be Executing a skill without knowing WHY or WHAT to do! There is no need to go to Level 3 for every skill

CREATING YOUR OWN OPERATIONAL SKILLS MATRIX This template covers 32 different strategic aspects of a business. You can use the same framework to create an operational skills matrix, and a training needs analysis for your wider team Create a long list of skills you want to measure and develop across the team We recommend some business growth, operations and admin skills (e.g. Sales, filing) We recommend including some culture and life balance skills Whittle your long list into a manageable amount. Depending on importance of training in your business ( Roughly 20, but can be up to 30) Use the skills matrix template to create a personalized skills matrix using the variety of skills on the top and the 3 levels of expertise underneath Then complete the same colouring, education and assessment process with your team
