WHAT ARE WE GOING TO DO TODAY? The purpose of this presentation is to make sure your basic technological needs are met. We will focus on: Activate your ORU account How to use the ORU account How to get, activate and use the University card Navigate the student portal Studenttj nster 5
ACTIVATE YOUR ORU ACCOUNT NOTE: You must have been registered in order to follow these steps! Go to: www.oru.se/oruaccount Click Activate your ORU account Choose alternative 3, Activation key. Get the following information (found in e-mail or Welcome envelope from Katrin Wieder): Your temporary personal identity number (YYMMDD-NNNN). Your Activation key Follow the instructions on the screen. 6
ACTIVATE YOUR ORU ACCOUNT (CONT.D) Accept terms and conditions Choose your password. Your password must: Contain between 8 and 64 characters Contain different types of characters (numbers, lowercase letters, uppercase letters and special characters) Contain 8 unique characters Your e-mail address might be missing. More on that later! Make a note of your login information in a secure way. You only have to create your ORU account once. 7
ORU ACCOUNT USERNAME All students receive a username when they create an ORU account. The username is automatically generated from: The first three letters of your first name The first two letters of your last name The letter v (short for the Swedish word for spring semester ) Two numbers referencing which year you began your studies The very last number is random. Example: annblv223 8
HOW TO USE THE ORU ACCOUNT Your ORU account gives you access to: Studenttj nster Blackboard (install the Blackboard app ) University card The University Library s online services Download Office 365 for free (more on that later) Various other software Pronounced [stud:ent ch:enster] 9
HOW TO USE THE ORU ACCOUNT (AT CAMPUS) Your ORU account gives you access to: Book a study room on campus (install the Kronox app ) Computer halls and My Documents Copying and printing: www.oru.se/print Creating a WIFI-account: www.oru.se/english/wireless 10

CHECK AND UPDATE CONTACT DETAILS TO YOUR ORU ACCOUNT rebro University will regularly send you important information via e- mail and/or telephone. For example about exams. Make sure your contact information is correct: Open Ladok student Open the Menu and click My pages Check or add your preferred Contact details Save! 14
PRINT CERTIFICATES AND TRANSCRIPTS You can download and print certificates of registration and transcripts of records from Ladok Student. 15

THE UNIVERSITY CARD Distance learning students must order their University card here: www.oru.se/order-university-card It will be sent to you via mail. You can also collect a University card from us or the University Library. The University card has three basic functions: Key card for entering houses and computer halls when locked Loan card at the University Library Loan card at IT-services The University card is not an ID card. 17

DOWNLOAD OFFICE 365 TO YOUR PERSONAL COMPUTER FOR FREE Visit the webpage www.oru.se/english/software, click Other software at the bottom of the page and follow the instructions to download Office 365. An account has already been activated for you: User name: your regular ORU username followed by @edunet.oru.se Password: Your regular ORU password Example: annblv223@edunet.oru.se 20
