Data collection - Need to do more? Or better. . ..? Satisfaction Data collection from: Current students (by program), CCSSE, NSSE Graduates and Alumni Employers Community at large = the public Performance ( HARD ) Data on: Strategic Plan and Institutional Effectiveness Is WVUP accomplishing the goals? Student learning outcomes (by program, course) Enrollment Management: Enrollment, Retention, Graduation Fiscal Responsibility Use of funds
Suggested list of things to do: Review Strategic Plan for Student Success: Create a list of data points that are already available. Identify other assessments points to be added. Identify instruments. Develop new ones?
Student success #s Jeremy will provide data for every program over 3-5 year period. Review by degree. Enrollment. Retention. Graduation rates. Time to degree. What other target markets can be measured for meaningful analysis?
Strategic Plan Links to Assessment Identify current data points. Where does the data originate from? Where stored? How frequently collected? Narrow them down to a few key points to measure. What measurement is available? Assessment Plan by unit, activity, department. . .
Public Disclosure of Student Performance and other data CHEA Commission on Higher Education Association requires that institutions publish the results of their students performance, enrollment, retention, graduation rates, and other key data. Voluntary Framework of Accountability National project Each unit and area should add results and data to the web on student performance
What needs to be assessed? Identify the outcomes that best address what it means to be a successful student? ASSESSMENT WORKSHEET Audience Participation!
Your homework. . .72542 1. Identify at least 7 metrics we are already doing and evaluate each one to see if it is meaningful. 2. Identify 2 great web pages from other colleges who report their success data well. 3. Work with your partners to identify 5 great studies as background for our work. (homework) 4. Identity what happens to 4 of the best metrics from #2. 5. Identify 2 new metrics that could be meaningful to help us improve.
