Background Background In 2017-18, the total by duration of the curriculum of international students registered in English study programs at Lithuanian colleges amounted to 577. This figure increased (peaked) at 819 during the 2018-2019 and in the academic year 2019-2020 a dramatic decline of 481 one of the aftereffects of the corona virus pandemic in Lithuania. In 2020-2021 this increased to 634 which indicates that international students are more motivated to study abroad in affordable EU States such as Lithuania and much less likely to study part-time at college institutions than Lithuanian students. More than ninety percent of international students tend to enrol full-time in degree programmes such as hospitality and tourism management, international business or computer science, and more recently global business and logistics. This figure will continue to rise post pandemic as restrictions continue to ease in Lithuania and economics conditions improve. Source: Statistics Lithuania, 2021.
