Creating and cultivating a talent pipeline Preparing volunteers with the knowledge, skills, & abilities to fill a vacant position as others retire or move on Risks of not doing succession planning Loss of critical knowledge that may never be recovered Naming a successor who lacks personal drive, commitment, knowledge, training or skills needed to fill the vacancy Significant loss of time spent getting a new volunteer up to speed All to pray for wisdom, discernment & compassion Slide 7 of 30

Community planning; AC to provide opportunities for mentoring Individual approach; this is a skill or Christian grace that can be learned with proper guidance Consider Team formation to include assignment of experienced person to a new recruit volunteer; possibly the one who invited the new Brother or Sister Contact in-between Team meetings (coffee, lunch, dinner, helps ) Slide 12 of 30

Make this a part of the overall process and planning Be diligent to know the state of your flocks, And attend to your herds. Proverbs 27:23 (NKJV) For as we have many members in one body, but all the members do not have the same function, 5 so we, being many, are one body in Christ, and individually members of one another. Leadership progression; the Program Manuals give guidance for experience- based requirements (Head servant, Chapel Coordinator, etc.) Leadership: Inside Coordinator, Observing Leader, Weekend Leader, Advising Leader Family tables: Servant, Assistant Leader, Leader, Clergy Consider new recruits for positions with interaction to observe the direct impact (Asst Leader, Family Servants) Slide 22 of 30
