  2. What What is HEALS? is HEALS? We convene health advocates, budgetary experts, and governance- and human rights-monitoring groups in collaboration to improve advocacy for domestic resource mobilization (DRM) in implementing countries. Challenges: Needs: Approach Opaque budgets Corruption Inadequate political will Inadequate financing Minimal private sector engagement Marginalized groups o Neglected o Discriminated against Transparency Accountability Robust data Costed-out asks Advocacy targets Who? When? Compelling visuals Health Education Advocacy Learning Series

  3. How How will HEALS operate? will HEALS operate? HEALS is a partnership: mutual South-South and South-North collaboration. Going beyond talking: advancing DRM advocacy capacity Pilot phase with three partners: Kenya: Lean on Me Foundation Vietnam: Center for Supporting Community Development Initiatives, GFAN-AP U.S.: Friends of the Global Fight Seek immediate collaboration for Replenishment

  4. When When is HEALS? is HEALS? November 2021 Initial HEALS meetings held in Kenya March 2022 Initial HEALS meetings to be held in Vietnam May 2022 In-person or virtual joint learning convenings by Friends in the U.S., with planned advocacy to U.S. policymakers for Replenishment Thereafter Toolkit, webpage or report on best practices & success stories in DRM advocacy Hopefully: additional African and Asian nations join (seeking additive funding)
