  2. Governor Scotts Workforce Priorities Governor Scott s Workforce Priorities Increase the size and skill level of Vermont s labor force by: 1. Increasing the labor force participation rate of Vermonters 2. Recruiting new workers to Vermont 3. Helping Vermont employers retain incumbent workers

Act 80 of 2019 Act 80 of 2019 Sec. 9 of Act 80 directs the Department of Labor to: Simplify the process and reduce barriers for employers seeking to access Department funding for English language classes Develop and make available to employers a collection of best practices for addressing the unique language, transportation, cultural, and other challenges New Americans* face in the workforce Explore the development of a work readiness certificate or program for New American employees Explore the development of a Diversity, Equity, and Inclusivity certificate or program, or similar initiative, for employers seeking to establish a New American friendly workplace

Act 80 of 2019 Act 80 of 2019 Sec. 9 of Act 80 directs the Department of Labor to: Asses: Recommendations identified in relevant studies and reports Cultural competency* support needed in Vermont s employment settings Training, apprenticeship, and mentorship needs and opportunities Tools and supports needed for refugees* to effectively apply preexisting educational and professional credentials in Vermont settings Additional supports needed to ensure employment opportunities, including child care and transportation
