Mental Health and well Mental Health and well- -being team being team New Mental health and wellbeing team introduced in September. Includes 4 members of staff: A member of SLT A Curriculum Director A teacher The full-time school counsellor.
W Whole hole school school initiatives to support Staff well initiatives to support Staff well- -being being Reduced amount of data entry points from 6 to 3 across the academic year. No marking policy only assessments are marked. As a school we consistently feedback within our lessons to build on students knowledge and understanding. No duties for teaching staff throughout the school day to allow time for breaks and to prepare for lessons.
W Whole hole school school initiatives to support Staff well initiatives to support Staff well- -being being Early finish at 2.45 pm on a Tuesday so that CPD can be delivered and allows an earlier finish and less meetings after school. During mocks we do not have CPD or meetings so this ensures that workload is not increased and time is given for marking to be completed. CPD to support staff wellbeing was offered as an optional twilight session. Staff identified this is something they wanted from a staff survey. Staff are able to access the school counsellor in drop in sessions that are designated for all school staff at a particular time in the week.
W Whole hole school school initiatives to support Staff well initiatives to support Staff well- -being being A new Employee Assistance Programme (EAP) was introduced to offer a range of services to support staff such as counselling. There is also a clinical advisor in place to support our counsellor. Staff enrichment- one of our team is the Head of PE who offers staff co- curricular such as gym inductions so staff can use this facility. Well-being activities offered to staff on a weekly, termly and annual basis. Access to services - we have organised a nail technician and hairdresser to come in last term to enable staff to do this without trying to fit it in with an after school appointment which they need to rush to.
W Whole hole school school initiatives to support Staff well initiatives to support Staff well- -being being Well-being focus in weekly line management meetings wellbeing is discussed so support can be put into place at the earliest possible stage if needed. Work for middle leaders is monitored through one member of SLT. This then ensures that workload/deadlines is monitored and regularly reviewed. Every Friday morning we have a staff briefing where staff are nominated by SLT as well as all curriculum directors from each faculty as a star of the week. The member of staff is given a gold metal star which they put onto their lanyard. This has been really important for both staff morale and sharing peoples achievements and hard work across all levels in the school.
W Whole hole school school initiatives to support Staff well initiatives to support Staff well- -being being Christmas online advent calendar - Every day there was a message or gesture to say thank you. These included bacon cobs and pastries during briefing and CPD. Thank you postcards for all staff in school. Thank you postcards from the students to all teachers. All staff received a free Christmas lunch. Reduce the amount of emails staff were receiving. Cut off at 6pm for emails to be sent and whole staff emails blocked for all staff apart from head teachers PA. Weekly mental health and wellbeing bulletin for staff with reminders of where to access support and ways to support pupils.
Further initiatives we are going to implement Further initiatives we are going to implement Team of mental health first aiders for adults to support all staff with their mental health and well-being. Drop ins available with a nurse to avoid after-school appointments. Introduction of a staff well-being forum/ working group held at the local pub (first one is on the 7th February). Conduct a workload audit to identify pinch points, link to staff voice.
