Subject: BTEC Extended Certificate Sport and Exercise Sciences A2 Terms What students will cover in their second year in this subject How you can best support them Subject Enrichment Autumn term First half term (ends 13thOct) Motivation Theories of motivation Arousal and performance Stress and anxiety Aggression and assertion Students will be receiving home work please enquire as to what they have received, help prompt them with completion. Reading / extra reading and completion of tasks from Sport Psychology class notes please check in with them. A formal assessment point will be placed in this term assessing how students are doing. Again, please prompt them to revise and prepare. One to one support from subject specific to help with UCAS application Autumn term Second half term (ends 21 December) Self confidence Self efficacy Mastery of performance Goal setting SMART Targets Mental rehearsal Focus on full Harvard referencing Library support in terms of referencing Again, homework. Students will be completing tasks 1-3 within Sport Psychology. Please prompt students to independently complete work. Mock week will be w/b 8thDecember. Students will have a mock in each of their subjects. Please advise them to prepare and revise for the relevant topics as instructed by their teachers.
Subject: BTEC Extended Certificate Sport and Exercise Sciences A2 Terms What students will cover in their second year in this subject How you can best support them Subject Enrichment Spring term First half term (ends 9th Feb) Planning consideration Skills and qualities of a coach Planning an individual session Series planning Help in preparing for a formal assessment in this half term based on an hours worth of written assessment, for example work booklets and reports. Please advise students to revise and keep notes and materials organised in folders. Visiting speakers from the coaching provision Spring term (Second half term ends 28th March) Delivery of coaching plan Review and reflection Students will be preparing for Mock examinations and a Formal assessment point. Again, please help by making sure students are organised and revising well for their exams and Mock week. For Sport and Exercise Sciences they will be delivering their coaching sessions to a group of athletes. Guest coaches delivering how to coach sessions Visits to local sports clubs and schools to deliver practical lessons Summer term (First half term ends 24th May. However, A Level and mixed study students last day of teaching before exams 12th May) if vocational Review of the coaching session Supporting students who are in their final run up to exams. Helping them keep calm but organised and working hard is important here. Within this subject they will be completing their final report with the Coaching unit. Assessment workshops

Reading / extra reading and completion of tasks from Fitness training class notes please check in with them. A formal assessment point will be placed in this term assessing how students are doing. Again, please prompt them to revise and prepare. One to one support from subject specific to help with UCAS application Autumn term Second half term (ends 21 December) Components of fitness Training methods Principles of training Focus on full Harvard referencing Library support in terms of referencing and researching fitness related topics Again, homework. Students will be completing activities 1-5 within Fitness Training. Please prompt students to independently complete work. Mock week will be w/b 8th December. Students will have a mock in each of their subjects. Please advise them to prepare and revise for the relevant topics as instructed by their teachers.

Working with careers and next steps for those wanting to enter employment Spring term (Second half term ends 28th March) Continual professional development Personal skills Personal development Portfolio building Students will be preparing for Mock examinations and a Formal assessment point. Again, please help by making sure students are organised and revising well for their exams and Mock week. For Sport they will be undertaking a recruitment activity that will help them enhance their employability skills. Guest speakers, for example professional working in the sports industry. Summer term (First half term ends 24th May.
