AASL within this Lesson AASL.IV.A.1 Curate: Determining the need to gather information. AASL.I.B.1 Inquire: Using evidence to investigate questions. AASL.VI.C.2 Engage: Disseminating new knowledge through means appropriate for the intended audience. AASL.V.D.1 Explore: Iteratively responding to challenges. PROCEDURE 1. Find the phrases that have the same meaning by shading them with similar colors. 2. Write S if the example is synecdoche and M if it is an example of metonymy. 3. Give one example of synecdoche and one example of metonymy. Collate your answers as a group and come up with a list of examples for each figure of speech discussed. 4. Choose three examples of synecdoche and two examples of metonymy from the list and write your own sentence using each example. ACTIVITIES/ASSESSMENT Activity 1: Think: Finding the phrases that have the same meaning. Activity 2: Create: Identifying whether the statement is synecdoche or metonymy. Activity 3: Share: Giving one example for each figure of speech discussed. Activity 4: Grow: Choosing two examples of synecdoche and metonymy and writing a sentence using each example.
