  2. INTRODUCTION PROBLEM RESEARCH REASONS The performance of a soccer player is seen from the extent to which the player expresses his/her abilities, physical, technical, tactical and mental abilities. The most important variables for measuring performance in team sports such as soccer are physical condition and technical and tactical performance (Rosch et al., 2000). When the problem is when an athlete who has a strong physique, good technique, and a mentality ready to compete, but the team is competing and loses. GAP Athlete performance is a determining factor for a team to play well to win (Pramdhan et al., 2020). Athletes who have strong physique, good technique and mentality ready to compete, but when in the match, the team is confused (Septian, 2019). A team that understands the tactics and strategies given by the coach will have the advantage of improving cooperation and especially facilitating communication (Tenga et al., 2010). A good understanding of the tactics and strategies of soccer players will provide advantages to the team and make it easier for players to communicate when competing.

  3. INTRODUCTION NOVELTY PREVIOUS RESEARCH In team games, tactical teaching is a complex thing that requires the ability of the players in addition to adequate technique and physicality, decision making in the game is also needed (Duda & Stu a, 2017). In this case, tactical training is needed as a cognitive and psychomotor domain, which aims to apply this understanding when competing (Al-Ardh, 2021). In the study (Pramdhan et al., 2020) it was found that the understanding of tactics and strategies of Football Education Sanggarung U 20 players was moderate. Although, with a moderate level of understanding, they still lost. Based on this, the author wants to examine the relationship between the level of understanding of tactics and performance of soccer players. strategies and the playing INGREDIENT The problem of low performance of soccer players when competing is due to confusion and not understanding the game situation. One of the important decisions of a coach is to determine the team formation to create synergy and interaction or communication between players (Mesoudi, 2020).

  4. METHODS RESEARCH METHODOLOGY This research is a quantitative descriptive study using correlation techniques, before conducting the research the author compiled a research instrument to examine the level of understanding of tactics and strategies, namely the instrument used was a modified questionnaire. Then to find out the playing performance the researcher used the GPAI (Game Performance Assessment Instrument) proposed by (Oslin et al., 1998). The results of the two instruments will then be processed and analyzed using statistical tests to determine the relationship between the two variables. RESEARCH DESIGN This study was located in the city of Bandung, Batununggal area, with 13 respondents. The study of the level of understanding of tactics and strategies was conducted by providing a questionnaire form sheet, then the players filled in each item. The study of player playing performance during the match was conducted by three coaches who had a football coach license c, the GPAI form sheet was filled in by the three coaches by watching match footage online. The results of the two variables were then processed and analyzed using statistical tests.

  6. DISCUSSION Based on the research results, the level of understanding of tactics and strategies with the playing performance of soccer players has a significant relationship that is moderate and in the same direction. Most players are still confused between knowing and not knowing about the meaning of strategy and tactics, the use of strategy and tactics, subjective strategy and individual tactics, the benefits of strategy and the benefits of tactics. Tactical and strategic abilities are interrelated in forming maximum playing performance during the match. The performance indicators of playing which are part of the technical and tactical game significantly affect the outcome of the match. It can be seen from the performance ability of the players of Akademi Bina Pakuan KU 15 which has an average of 0.70 which means that the playing performance is moderate. Tactical training is designed to develop strategies that utilize the athlete's technical and physical abilities so that the chances of success in competition are increased.

  7. CONCLUSION This study resulted in a significant relationship between the level of understanding of tactics and strategies with football playing performance, the correlation coefficient of the two variables is in the same direction with a positive value of 0.597 in the interpretation of the correlation is moderate with a determination coefficient value of 0.356.
