  1. Week 3/25

  2. Who are Present Today Kaya, Tyler, Tommy, Matt

  3. Overview of Work Kaya - Worked with Tommy and Matt to figure out connecting dss and pandapower. Tyler - Tommy - Matt - Worked with Kaya on integration of PandaPower and DSSpython Justin - Still working with Kaya to get her work on the Docker instances. Zach - Looking into simulating attacks and documentation of dss-python

  4. Justin - Work Tried to get the sender and receiver code that Kaya has been working on to work with the Dockers Will help with future implementation with the work that Matt and Tommy are doing. It begins to work with the broker and creates a connection, however the execution stage doesn t get an error, but never starts. I want to test a few different things with Kaya s code that will provide insight into what we need to do. Also worked on more frontend functionality - now the code will not allow a second simulation to be run at the same time. I also added other safety features that stops the app from being destroyed on accident.

  6. Justin - Future Work The error that is currently occurring is probably small, will redo what I have been doing and attempt to see if it is reproducible or if I made a small error. Continue working on Frontend implementations - currently very bare bones, but I want to get things looking a bit nicer before the final presentation.

  7. Tommy - Work Worked with Kaya for Helics integration with DSS-Python Focused on the Santa Fe model Found creation files within the santa fe model of where we believe the connection between our transmission model and santa fe will be

  8. Tommy - Work For the DSS creation codes, I could find the line between the busses, the creation of a substation, and the breakers for the subtransmission area but could not find the bus creation for the st_mat-uts0_69 & st_mat-uts1_69. Only the bus coords.

  9. Tommy - Questions Is st_mat-uts0_69 & st_mat-uts1_69 bus names? Yes if so is the the interconnection point between panda power and the distribution grid? (I think it will be) Receiving Voltage PU values from Helics We should adjust the pu for the bus, where are the creation lines for st_mat-uts0_69 & st_mat- uts1_69 (cannot find)? Show IEEE 13 bus example to help explain Getting currents and sending to helics Should we create a monitor on each of the lines on the high side of the xrmf, record current on those monitors after solving the master file. Add the two currents from the two line monitors and insert back to pandapower? Or should we take the current from the two busses and add them together?

  10. Tyler - Work Looked into causing line trips in both Pandapower and DSS-Python. One paper I found created a trip decision from a short circuit simulation within Pandapower. They create a boolean trip signal that is used for their Pandapower time series though. It might be possible to do something similar by running a short circuit calculation, create a trip signal, and then delete /disconnect that line in Pandapower. I will talk with Matt/Thommy this week and see if that is feasible.

  11. Tyler - Work From https://publica-rest.fraunhofer.de/server/api/core/bitstreams/72a583a8-7204- 4f87-bc9d-10760e07701a/content:

  12. Tyler - Work I spent a good amount of time trying to find any good documentation or scientific papers for DSS-Python for any possible attack, especially tripping lines. I could not find much. The documentation is so sparse and there are little to no papers that have used DSS-Python for this purpose. I ll meet with Matt/Thommy this week to see what is possible with the code. Future work - Get with the team to get the biweekly report done, get with Matt and Thommy to talk about the possibility of attacks, maybe start work on attacks if the simulation gets running (otherwise I will try to help where I can).

  13. Zach - Work - Continued to look for dss-python examples with little -> no success. Most of the examples were of python-dss version that we aren t using. Design review of team 29 with our team - Future: - Work with Tyler, Matt, & Tommy about creating simulations of attacks on dss- python Help Kaya and Justin with getting the simulation to run with all parts of our project -

  14. Kaya - Work Worked with Tommy to figure out the connection point between pandapower and dss within the dss code. Going to attempt to add the 13Bus to get a proof of concept for pandapower and a distribution system. Will continue to figure out SantaFe model in the meanwhile. Worked with Matt to configure pandapower to connect with the 13Bus system Reconfigured 13Bus to 110 low, since pandapower puts a restriction on valid value, and a MVA 160 380/110 is the highest it allows. Issues: Dss python module not recognized Unsure of how to get the values needed from dss python

  15. Kaya - Next Steps Figure out the connections between pandapower and dss Work with Matt to get the EV loads connected Fix the controller code, then work with Matt to work the controller into the EV simulation. Integrate the SantaFe model into helics instead of the 13Bus example.

  16. Matt - Work Worked with Kaya on PandaPower and HELICs integration Identified what values need to be sent from PandaPower to OpenDSS I believe that the Pandapower load will be based on apparent and reactive power Load power will be based off of voltage level (110kV) times the current from DSSpython There are standard transformer types that need to be used in pandapower We chose the largest standard transformer to try and meet the voltage level in DSSpython. We will need to lower the voltage level in DSSpython to match that of PandaPower.

  17. Matt - Work Started working at EV Load integration with DSSpython How do we do this? Need to know how to connect the EVs as a load Can hundreds of EVs be connected at a single load point or will we have to create individual loads for each EV in DSSpython

  18. Matt - Questions Pandapower: How does the load work when integrating DSSpython? Do we use current from DSSpython and voltage supplied by pandapower to calculate the power consumed by the load? How can the current from DSSpython be integrated into PandaPower? There is no specified current in pandapower, the calculations are done by PYPOWER which is an existing code that cannot be edited HELICs EV Load: How does the EV load integrate into DSSpython? Not sure how these loads can be injected into DSSpython

  19. Meeting Minutes Overview (4:30-4:40) Tommy (4:40-4:51) Tyler (4:51-5:02) Kaya (5:02-5:12) Matt (5:12-5:28)

  20. Questions Tommy: Is the interpoint between distribution/transmission model the two generators in the sub transmission part of the master.dss? Matt : How can we set a current level for a bus in pandapower and can we do it in real time?
