This project focuses on improving the implementation of food safety standards and disease crisis preparedness through official controls. Regulations and methods for official inspections and controls are highlighted to ensure the safety and quality of food products in accordance with Regulation (EC) No. 2017/625. Competent authorities are required to perform official controls regularly and effectively, taking into account risks and operational disruptions for operators. Regulation (EC) No 2017/625 General rules regardig official inspection Competent authorities shall perform official controls on all operators regularly, on a risk basis and with appropriate frequency Due to identification of the appropriate frequencies of the official inspections the determined risks have to be taken into account. Official controls shall be performed without prior notice, except where such notice is necessary and duly justified for the official control to be carried out. Official controls shall be performed as much as possible in such a manner that the administrative burden and operational disruption for operators are kept to the minimum necessary, but without this negatively affecting the effectiveness of those controls.
