  2. HOW DOES IT WORK? Closed. AD via Headset.

  3. DIRECT VIEW E.g. a technician s booth at the back of the auditorium.

  4. INDIRECT VIEW watch a feed of the show via a monitor.

  8. AUDIENCE EXPERIENCE Three channel Headset. Channel 1: AD sound. Channel 2 : show sound (show relay). Channel 3: mixed 1 & 2.

  9. HOW IS THE AD TRANSMITTED? Infra-red. Radio.

  10. INFRA-RED Clear line of sight. Beam is easily disrupted. Limits choice of seat.

  11. RADIO SYSTEM Range c.100m. Cannot be obstructed. Does not affect choice of seat. Users don t have to be seated to hear the AI.

  12. WHY DOES THE DESCRIBER NEED TO KNOW? Describer is not expected to install technical equipment. Advise venue on what to provide. Help technicians.

  13. SOUND CHECK Can they hear you? Are you loud enough? Are you too loud popping when you say words beginning with p ? Do they stop hearing you when you close the mic. fader? Can you hear the sound from the stage?

  14. USING THE MICROPHONE Microphone hands free. Close to but not directly in front of your mouth. Test.

  18. TEST SOUND THROUGHOUT THE AUDITORIUM Especially when seated.

  19. YOUR HEADPHONES Adjust to hear your voice and the show relay. Comfortable sound level (peaking not more than 4). Too quiet. Too loud.
