TEN SCRIPTURES TO LIVE BY
1. About God In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth (Gen. 1:1). Since God created us He knows His creation. We have reason to obey Him. Every life has a divine source and purpose.
2. About Gods Protection But those who wait upon the Lord shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint (Isa. 40:31). One of the keys to life is learning to wait upon the Lord. The benefits of waiting upon the Lord.
3. Seeking the Lord Seek the Lord while He may be found, Call upon Him while He is near. Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts; Let him return to the Lord, and He will have mercy on him; and to our God, for He will abundantly pardon (Isa. 55:6-7). Key words include seek, found, call, near, forsake, thoughts, return, mercy, abundantly pardon. The Bible in one verse!
4. Gods Thoughts For My thoughts are not your thoughts; nor are your ways My ways, says the Lord. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways, and My thoughts than your thoughts (Isa. 55:8-9). A key to pleasing God is to learn to think as He thinks; to value what He values, and to live as He directs.
5. Gods Care for Us If God is for us, who can be against us? He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered but delivered Him up for us all, how shall he not with Him also freely give us all things (Rom. 8:31-32). The child of God never stands alone when standing with the Lord. His love for His children is so great He gave His Son.
6. Philosophy of Life A merry heart does good like medicine, but a broken spirit dries the bones (Prov. 17:22). Joy comes out of service, love, thankfulness, and optimism. Humor and a joyful spirit encourage and uplift others and our own heart.
7. Doing Gods Will If you love Me, keep My commandments (John 14:15). Living by God s instruction brings the fulfillment and blessings God intends. Obedience to God demonstrates true love for God.
8. Looking out for Others Let each of you look out not only for his own interests, but also for the interests of others (Phil. 2:4). We were made to serve God. One way we serve Him is by our care and service to others.
9. Accountability to God For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, that each one may receive the things done in the body, according to what he has done, whether good or bad (2 Cor. 5:10). We will answer to God for our lives. We must prepare to stand before Him.
10. Looking to Eternity For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, is working for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory, while we do not look at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen. For the things which are seen are temporary, but the things which are not seen are eternal (2 Cor. 4:17-18). This life points toward eternity.
