  1. Navigating the On-Line Placement Tests Start by going to UC Blue Ash Testing Online Note: Please keep in mind that these tests are not pass/fail. They do not prevent you from coming to UCBA. They are required to help you select the appropriate English and Math courses.

  2. Prior to testing online, you will need to get your UC credentials Start online to get your UC Credentials Retrieve your UC username and UC ID number. UC generates these for you. Create your own password. Use the default password to reset your password.

  3. UC has generated your UC credentials First retrieve your UC username and then your UC ID Get your UC Username. Follow the steps The next screen will show your username (also called 6+2), and your UCID (also called M number) Note: You will need to know the last 4 digits of your social security number

  4. Create your own UC password A couple of steps to creating a unique password 1. Password Self Service (PSS) Knowledge Base takes you to a page that explains how you will create your unique password. 2. Read the directions on this page. 3. Follow the instructions for setting up your PSS profile using the default password Uc!MMDDYYYY ( MMDDYYYY is your full date of birth). 4. Use the Password Creation Page that asks for your username and password (use the default password noted above). 5. After clicking login, you will go to a page that enables you to create your unique password 6. Call UCIT Help Desk if you need help: 513-556-4357.

  5. Once you retrieve your credentials and set your password, then you can log into Canopy Click on Canvas and log in using your UC username and newly created password You can find the English and the Math placement tests under Dashboard and/or Courses. The English placement test is available each week Thursday noon through the following Monday noon. The Math placement test is always available.

  6. English Placement Test To take the English Placement Test, please note that the test is only available from noon on Thursday thru noon on the following Monday of each week. Follow the 4 steps outlined: Download and read assigned article Review the honor code Write three responses on a Word provided template (or Google doc, but please be sure to convert it to a PDF or Word doc before uploading) To convert a Google doc to a Word doc or PDF, go to file on the Google doc, then Download as a Word document or PDF Submit Response

  7. Once in the Canvas English Placement Test, Follow These Steps: 1. Read the information on the opening page. 2. Under Getting Started, click on the current testing time period. 3. Follow the steps that are outlined 4. If you have questions, please contact placementtesting@ucblueash.edu

  8. Step Four is the submission button. Upon clicking SUBMISSION, you will be lead to a place to Enter Your Responses After you entering the response tab, complete honor code review and continue. Your UC email is your username@mail.uc.edu Step One requires downloading the assigned article Step Three provides a template you may use. Be certain if you use the template that you save it and give the file a name that it is easy to find. If you do not have Microsoft Word, you can use a Google Doc, but be sure to turn the Google Doc into a PDF or Word doc before submitting. To convert a Google Doc to a PDF or Word doc, go to file on the Google Doc, then Download as a Word document or PDF Information highlights about ENPT steps

  9. The English Placement test first requires you to read an article. After reading the article, you will write three pieces to demonstrate your reading and writing skills: Write a summary of the article Write an essay in response to the prompt Write a reflection based upon the prompt Be certain to proofread and submit your writing on one file document Use your UC email (this is your username@mail.uc.edu) when submitting. Two weeks later, after writing professors from the UCBA English Department have read your writing, you will receive feedback via your UC email If you have questions, please contact placementtesting@ucblueash.edu Detailed Information about the English Placement Test

  10. When you enter the Math placement Test, you will find important resources and information. Note that calculators are not permitted, so have some paper and pencils ready before you test. Math Placement Test Before you take the test, consider clicking on the link to review the preparation materials The link to the scoring guidelines is important to consider, as well. Also, see the link to the table of math courses with the corresponding cutoff and qualifying MPT scores.

  11. The Math Placement Test has a total of 25 multiple choice questions and a couple of fill-in-the-blank questions. Note: there is no calculator permitted for this test. You will know that the test is completed when a score displays on your screen. This score will be available to your academic advisor, but you will not see it displayed anywhere else but on this screen, so take a screenshot for your records. If you choose to retake your Math placement test, you will have to wait 21 days before it will be available for you to retake. Contact your academic advisor if you are uncertain whether you should retake it or not.
