Texas-Spain VIT Program National Interest Exception (NIE) Travel Permission Online request with the American Embassy in Madrid MadridNIE@state.gov The travel permission is valid for 30 days with one entry in the U.S. Online NIE request must be completed for every trip Required when traveling to Europe All teachers are subject to requesting the NIE The 2020 cohort of teachers has an NIE flag in their visa, however, each teacher must still request this permission online.

Texas-Spain VIT Program Presidential Proclamations 10143 & 10052 Proclamation on the Suspension of Entry as Immigrants and Non-Immigrants of Certain Additional Persons Who Pose a Risk of Transmitting Coronavirus Disease 10143 (JANUARY 25, 2021) https://www.whitehouse.gov/briefing-room/presidential-actions/2021/01/25/proclamation-on-the- suspension-of-entry-as-immigrants-and-non-immigrants-of-certain-additional-persons-who-pose-a- risk-of-transmitting-coronavirus-disease/ Presidential Proclamation 10143 suspends entry to the United States of foreign nationals who were present in the 26 countries that comprise the Schengen Area, including Spain, within 14 days prior to their arrival at the port of entry in the United States. You cannot travel to the United States while Presidential Proclamation 10143 is in effect, unless you meet an exception. We do not know how long this proclamation will remain in effect.
