
Texas-Spain VIT Program Overview

What is the Texas - Spain VIT Program? Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the TEA and MECD in 1993 The Texas-Spain Visiting International Teacher program has been under the coordination of the Education Service Center (ESC) Region 13, as overseen by the Texas Education Agency, since January of 2011. It is a cultural exchange program Win-win opportunity. It strengthens ties between the citizens of the Kingdom of Spain and the state of Texas. It contributes to the development of the dual language and bilingual initiatives in Texas. It provides Spanish teachers with a unique enriching experience which will contribute to the Spanish system upon return.

The Ministrys role in the Selection Process The Ministry s role in the Selection Process Phase 1 Phase 2 Preparation of national call for applications Pre-screening of applications. Pre-selection and pre-assignment to Estimate of number of available positions school districts Redistribution of candidates Publication in BOE (Official Bulletin) Scheduling of interviews/ assessments Registration of candidates: PROFEX(data base platform) Organization and management of Teacher selection by districts week Elaboration of reports and statistics
Recruitment Weeks SAVE THE DATE APRIL 15 APRIL 30 - Districts set timeframe for interviews. - Advisors share candidates CV and daily roster for interviews. - Districts contact candidates and share Zoom/Meet/Teams link for interview. - At the end of the interview day, district representative sends signed roster to Education Advisors. - Once the Education Office confirms selection to candidate, districts can contact them.

Ensure that Principals understand the nature of the program and provide ongoing support to teachers, responding to their pedagogical, technical and training needs. Accomplish the agreement of collaboration Appointment of a district liason Assistance to teachers in settling down Mentor assignment Professional development of teachers VIT certification process in cooperation with TEA Extension process Visit all new teachers on their campuses for follow up as needed.
