Summer 2020 Texas Travel Softball What will it look like?
VIRTUAL MEETING THURSDAY APRIL 16 4:00 PM Welcome to the call/meeting, thanks for joining us in the discussion on what is best for our teams and programs. 1. To look at what is best for our kids, teams and families given the possible situations that we may experience 2. To discuss stages of returning to playing softball safely, and within local, state and nation wide policies and restrictions 3. Create a state wide, available to all, list of events. With events that are flexible and creative. 4. Options teams will have in the event traveling to a National event is not safe. 5. How to maximize the quality of events in their level of competition and exposure to college coaches. Meeting Objectives
No one knows anything about what the next month to a year looks like. That getting back on the field is going to come in 5 stages (IMO). (Details coming) We need to be prepared to offer our teams the best situation possible with what we are able to do within the local and national policies. We want to give the kids the best possible situation to get exposed and chance to compete. We want to support current national events that teams are schedule to play in. (Details coming) Things we can all agree on
STAGES WE EXPECT TO EXPERIENCE IN THE RETURN TO PLAY STAGE 1 able to practice with your teams STAGE 2 - able to set up some friendly s or local events that include just a few local teams. STAGE 3 - able to set up some friendly s or local events that include just a few local teams. STAGE 4 - able to play regional events within your state/region STAGE 5 No restrictions to travel and events

Event planning Important things needed in event schedule o Get registered, penciled in, wait listed for the events you would like to play in o Events that are flexible and can be creative with making adjustments o Plan to be patient and not get schedules until the week of o Communicate constantly if your team has any changes Things that we have to be aware of: o Lodging Cancellations Policies o Group Flight Payment Due Dates o Refund Policies (Credit transfer options)
Return to play Safety procedures ideas Umpire Meeting and flip done at a distance No Handshakes, etc after games Defensive team handles the balls while on defense (Prevents balls being handle by umpires, teams using same ball, etc) Each team has a ready to play bucket of balls (sanitized) Any sick players, coaches or parents must stay home for 14+ days Arguments, Questions, etc with umpires done at a distance
