  3. Matthew 5:9 (AMP) Blessed [spiritually calm with life joy in God s favor] are the makers and maintainers of peace, for they will [express His character and] be called the sons of God. Peacemaker

  4. Peacemaker Contd This Beatitude is not just about making peace but bringing peace to earth though the Good News of Jesus Christ, as His children. When you have a pure heart before God, you are truly His child and view the world with the same compassion as our Lord.

  5. Peacemaker Contd The pure in heart become peacemakers. We are pieces of His heart on earth. We have to restore broken relationships and be in the peacemaking business for the Lord.

  6. Peacemaker Contd We are never to be peacebreakers but always peacemakers .

  7. Peacemaker Contd We are rainbows of His love, showing His colors everywhere we go! Each Beatitude is an almost direct contradiction of society s way of life. Personal peace is pursued without concern for the world s chaos.

  8. Your Reward Our reward is that we will be called the Children of God. To develop this attitude see: Romans 12:9-21 and Hebrews 12:10,11

  9. Peacemaker Contd Jesus sends us to be peacemakers out into a world that is ugly and full of violence. We reflect His character of peace and unity. Prayer: May my heart long for simplicity of being a peacemaker, O Lord. May I live as a child of God and bring peace in a world overrun with unrest. Make me a channel of your peace.

  10. What is a Peacemaker? None of us are Perfect, but a peacemaker helps others solve a conflict and reach a peaceful solution. Peacemakers would step between two warring parties. The Peacemaker initiates reconciliation when others have wronged them. The Peacemaker is quick to repent when they have wronged others. We may want to avoid conflict, but peacemaking takes a commitment to move toward it.

  11. Qualities of a Peacemaker: Gentle Tender Considerate of other people s perspectives (not your way or the highway) Exhibit Self-control Avoid giving into anger * Seek to honor people (Humanitarians) Value Human Life

  12. Qualities Contd: Peacemakers see people. They see people and their needs even in difficult situations. You cannot bring peace to what you are unwilling to see. Others may want to avoid situations that make us feel sad, confused or uncomfortable, but peacemakers are willing to face these situations head-on. We must face the emotions instead of trying to guard oneself against them. They understand the importance of being aware and caring about what is happening in their communities.

  13. Qualities Contd: They know the needs of their community because they have courageously chosen to see their community as is and engage areas of injustice while believing in and working towards a better future. Peacemakers are willing to make an impact (Parents, Teachers, Pastors, Members of local Care Networks). Walking this path is hard, but it is a path that is well-worth the challenge!

  14. How Can You Be A Peacemaker? Deal with conflict early Practice Restraint ----especially your Tongue Prepare for a long journey Take steps toward Peace Trust God in the injustices that you have suffered What does a Peacemaker Symbolize? A Peacemaker symbolizes Strength and Unity. Strength and Unity.

  15. Five Characteristics of a Peacemaker: Peace rules in their heart They are Active, not Passive They are Gentle They resolute in the Truth They are Patient A Peacemaker can be called: Intermediary, Concilliator, Mediator, Arbitrator

  16. Our Examples: Jesus Jesus (Isaiah 9:6) Prince of Peace! He came to establish peace His death purchased peace His resurrected presence enables peace. Abigail Abigail (1 Samuel 25) She meets King David and takes her husband s blame (Nabal) upon herself to save him and her entire household. Story of Joseph

  17. Scriptures and Peacemaker Contd: Hebrews 12:14 Strive for peace with everyone. Romans 12:18 If possible, so far as it depends upon you, live peaceably with all. Peace opens doors and it takes teamwork. It is an opportunity for Evangelism. We are His Peace, and a Piece of Him in this world. We must be makers and promoters of peace with all we encounter. Peacemakers live a life Beyond Belief.

  18. Scripture and Peacemaker Contd: Luke 6:35 But love your enemies, do good to them that hate you, and lend to them without expecting to get anything back. Then your reward will be great, and you will be sons of the Most High, because He is kind to the ungrateful and wicked. As Peacemakers, we must be aware that God is constantly at work in people s lives, always inching them toward Him. John 15:5 I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.

  19. Peacemaker Contd: So, our peacemaking efforts depend entirely upon Him working within us to provide the solid spiritual guidance we require to extend ourselves to others. (we are branches). We must depend upon heavenly wisdom, not human logic to identify solutions and provide counsel. James 3:17 describes this wisdom as pure, peace-loving, considerate, submissive, merciful, fruitful, impartial and sincere. When you make peace, you reflect the likeness of God. People see a reflection of His glory.

  20. Peacemaker Contd: Finally, you are blessed when you can show people how to cooperate instead of compete or fight . That s when you discover who you really are, and your place in God s family! Be the Peacemaker God is Be the Peacemaker God is calling For!!!! calling For!!!!
