  1. Why 3 Meetup Groups? Why 3 Meetup Groups? Background Facts Meetup allows each account to have 3 Groups. Each Group has its own geographic location In-Person Events get their own geographic location Virtual Events default to the Group geographic location The way to test how your Events & Group show to the public is to log out of Meetup to run searches.

  2. 1 Group for 4 Counties 1 Group for 4 Counties Meetup drives geographic searches Public Speaking shows Events in NY unless you pick your D101 location Public Speaking in Monterey, CA yields Events in Hayward, CA (100 miles from Monterey) You have to narrow your search to within 10-25 miles of Monterey to see Events in Monterey

  3. Search Results w/1 Group Search Results w/1 Group With one Group set in Santa Clara County If you take the D101 Account and use one Group for all Events throughout Santa Clara, Santa Cruz, San Benito, and Monterey Counties

  4. Search Results w/1 Group Search Results w/1 Group Public Speaking w/in 10 miles of Monterey, CA shows In Person Events in Monterey Toastmasters Events that do not use the words Public Speaking do not show NO Virtual Events in Monterey show The D101 Meetup Group will not show

  5. 3 Groups 3 Groups Adding Groups for Monterey/San Benito and Santa Cruz Counties permits the public to find Toastmasters In-Person Events in those counties Toastmasters Virtual Events in those counties Toastmasters Groups for each county Thus, Events and Groups that the public missed will now show, increasing D101 s outreach to the public.

  6. The Downside of 3 Groups The Downside of 3 Groups - - it s minimal! it s minimal! While having 3 Groupsbroadens D101 s public outreach, it means current Toastmasters will want to join 2 additional Groups to see all D101 Events. Since Meetup is not D101 s primary form of communication with Toastmasters, this limitation is minimal, especially when weighed against the benefit of reaching the public. And the burden of joining 2 additional Groups to cover all of D101 is better than joining numerous individual club Groups.

  7. The Impact of 1 Group The Impact of 1 Group The 1 Group approach greatly limits D101 s ability to reach the public outside of Santa Clara County. Several such clubs have incurred the expense of creating their own Meetup accounts to reach the public. These separate, smaller Groups do not interface & share information only about each club s Events, further limiting District outreach to the public.

  8. Solution Solution Having 3 D101 Groups permits D101 to reach the public in all counties on Meetup, permits clubs that do not want to fund their own accounts to make effective use of the D101 account, and better promotes D101 throughout the district. Clubs may still host their own Meetup accounts while joining the District Groups. These larger Groups leverage their size to reach the public & attract followers.

  9. Conclusion Conclusion Join all 3 D101 Groups to Learn happenings throughout D101 Reach more members of the public Promote your club to the public Promote D101 to the public
