Past simple The past simple refers to an action that happened at a definite time in the past and the action is finished.
The rule of Past simple Sub + verb (regular or irregular) + Complement.
Past Simple We can use the adverbs (yesterday, ago, and last) with past simple. She went to the university yesterday. Sub irregular verb We arrived yesterday. Sub regular verb Adv C Adv.
Past Simple Present Past Go = went Come = came have = had Make = made See = saw Say = said Do = did
The rule of Question We use did to make question: Did + Sub + V . (infinitive) + C + ? Ex// 1- Did she go to the university? 2- Did she go out at the weekend? 3- Did she like the food in the restaurant ? 4-Did he take a shower?
The rule of Negative We use didn t in negative sentences: The rule. Sub + didn t + V. (infinitive) + C. Ex// 1- She didn t go to the university. 2- She didn t go the cinema yesterday. 3- She didn t go out at the weekend. 4- She didn t like the food in the restaurant.
Do as Required 1- He (not/ arrive) yesterday. (Past simple) 2- I (do) it two months ago. (Past simple) 3- I (call) you last week. (Correct) 4- She (message) me yesterday. (Correct) 5- We (walk) to the house two hours ago. (Correct) 6- You (talk) to Sami last year. (Correct)
Exercise 1- I (not/drink) any beer last night. 2- What time. (he/get up) yesterday? . 3- Last summer holiday Mary (go) to Miami with her. 4- He (walk) to school yesterday.
