  3. Let s look at a drug that people often have misperceptions and false expectations about. The messages portrayed in the media and in society about this drug are often unreliable and misleading. These messages suggest the use of this drug is normal and acceptable. 3

  5. Marijuana Myth & Facts Some sources are much more accurate than others. Unfortunately, you may come across inaccurate messages just as often, maybe even more often, than accurate ones. What can happen if you hear something often enough? If you hear an inaccurate message often enough, you may begin to believe it. 5

  6. Open workbooks to pg. 20 Marijuana: The Real Deal FACT Something that has been proven to be true. MYTH An invented or unproven story, idea, or concept On page 20, there are 10 statements you might hear people say about marijuana. Some of these statements are myths, and some are facts. After you read each statement, circle myth or fact to indicate your answer. 6

  7. Open workbooks to pg. 21 Marijuana and Brain Function The presence of THC in the brain reduces or stops brain activity. Review each section of the brain. 7

  8. Pg. 21 Effects of THC For each of the teens, read the statement and identify the primary activity in the statement. Write the activity down in the chart in the Activity column. Then consider how THC use would affect the user s ability to complete the activity and write down an effect in the Effects of THC Use column. Finally, identify the part of the brain that would be impaired by THC use for the effect you listed and write it down in the Area if the brain impaired column. 8
