  1. Interest is the central force that derives the whole machinery of process. It plays an important role in directing and controlling behaviour. teaching-learning human

  2. Interest is the feeling that prompts us to spontaneous activity. The term interest has been derived from the Latin word intersee which means it concerns or it matters . So, a thing that interests us is just something that concerns us or matters to us. If someone is interested in cricket, it means cricket matters to him. It is the natural as well as acquired tendency of an individual to get attracted towards a particular thing.

  3. In the words of Ross, A thing that interests us is just something that concerns us or matters to us. According to Bingham, An interest is a tendency to become experience and to continue it. absorbed in an

  4. Following are thecharacteristics of Interest: 1) Interest are positive in nature. They are closely related to ourattitudes. 2) Interest is the basis of conative act in the form of attention. Interest and attention are closely related to each other.

  5. 3) Our interests are closely linked with our instincts, basic needs and motives. 4) Interests are innate as well as acquired dispositions. Theyare not fixed or permanent. 5) There is individual difference in Interests. It can be measured by psychological tests. 6) Interest is closely related with learning. Learning becomes effective and efficient only when interests of children are satisfied.
