Old and new Inclusion challenges in education One in five 15 year-olds in the EU does not have basic skills in reading, science and maths Education investment in many Member States has been continuously decreasing Lack of sufficient digital capacity and readiness of education and training systems can further widen inequalities Only 39.4 % of teachers in the EU feel well or very well prepared to use digital technologies for teaching
The European Education Area Building on a strong political momentum and a shared vision for Europe that is ready to face the digital & green transitions Preventing the health crisis from becoming a structural barrier to learning, skills development and employment prospects of our youth Translating the European Education Area into a tangible reality for the European education and training ecosystem
Key actions addressing inclusion and diversity Objectives: Decouple educational attainment and achievement from social, economic and cultural status; Promote robust and inclusive lifelong learning strategies; Strengthen cross-border volunteering and solidarity activities; Ensure that education systems comply with the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities; Support VET systems to become more agile, resilient and future-proof; Promote gender equality in education processes and institutions at all levels.
