Welcome to the Rotary Club of Moe Presentation on The Rotary Foundation 1
The Rotary Foundation Mission The mission of The Rotary Foundation of Rotary International is to enable Rotarians to advance world understanding, goodwill, and peace through the improvement of health, the support of education, and the alleviation of poverty. Rotary s Areas of Focus are categories of service activities supported by global grants. Since it was founded more than 100 years ago, the Foundation has spent more than $4 billion on life-changing, sustainable projects.

THE ROTARY CLUB OF MOE - WORKING IN THE AREAS OF FOCUS SUPPORTING EDUCATION The Bali School Project in Banyuning, Indonesia, including Provision of school uniforms and supplies Refurbishment of buildings and equipment, including the library and sick bay Rotary Junior Community Awards - Year 6 students building new skills and community experiences Student Pride of Workmanship Awards students at all participating schools in 3825 postcode area Rotary Foundation Student Scholarships in conjunction with District 9820 for students at Lowanna Secondary College 5
THE ROTARY CLUB OF MOE - WORKING IN THE AREAS OF FOCUS GROWING LOCAL ECONOMIES Building social capital through community development projects, including the Moe Botanic Gardens children s playground. Support for local events like the Apex/Lions Bonfire Night and Carols by Candlelight. Business Excellence Awards for local businesses providing outstanding customer service. Partnering with local organisations to conduct activities, including the Rotary Gippsland Golf Classic. 6
THE ROTARY CLUB OF MOE - WORKING IN THE AREAS OF FOCUS PROVIDING CLEAN WATER Annual commitment to contributing to the purchase of a Sky Hydrant through Disaster Aid Australia. Promotion of Water & Sanitisation Projects, such as Operation Toilets Australia. Improvement of toilet facilities as part of our Adopt a School project at the Banyning school in Bali. 7
THE ROTARY CLUB OF MOE - WORKING IN THE AREAS OF FOCUS FIGHTING DISEASE Financial support for local health and support services, including the Latrobe Regional Hospital and Gippsland Rotary Centenary House. Annual Club donation to Polio Plus. Fundraising activities to enable additional contributions to End Polio Now. Promotion of World Polio Day to raise community awareness. Support for District Governors Partner s projects, including End Polio Now, Glaucoma and Rotary Against Malaria initiatives. 8

END POLIO NOW Key Facts in 2020 Rotary and its partners have reduced polio cases by 99.9 percent, and just two countries continue to report cases of wild poliovirus: Afghanistan and Pakistan. Nearly 19 million people who would otherwise have been paralyzed are walking, and more than 1.5 million people are alive who would otherwise have died. Rotary members have contributed more than $2.1 billion and countless volunteer hours to protect more than 2.5 billion children in 122 countries from this paralyzing disease Rotary s advocacy efforts have played a role in decisions by governments to contribute more than $10 billion to the effort. Rotary has committed to raising $50 million per year for polio eradication. The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation has pledged to match that 2-to-1, for a total commitment of $150 million each year. 10
FOUNDATION GRANTS The Rotary Foundation offers grants that support humanitarian projects, scholarships, and vocational training teams. Global grants support large international projects with long term, sustainable outcomes in one or more of Rotary s areas of focus. They typically range from $30,000 to $200,000. District Grants fund smaller scale, short term projects that address immediate needs in your community or abroad. Disaster Response Grants allow districts to respond extremely rapidly to local disasters, such as earthquakes, floods and bushfires. Clubs can leverage Rotary Foundation grants with District Designated Funds and Share funds to maximise projects impact.
FOUNDATION GRANTS The Foundation awarded $86,677,399 in funding to 1,306 grants during fiscal year 2018.
