For the Joy of the Lord is your Strength Nehemiah 8:10
Thank God for the Blood By Pastor Fee Soliven Exodus 12:1-15 Sunday Morning December 1, 2019
Exodus 12:1-15 1 Now the LORD spoke to Moses and Aaron in the land of Egypt, saying, 2 "This month shall be your beginning of months; it shall be the first month of the year to you. 3 Speak to all the congregation of Israel, saying: 'On the tenth day of this month every man shall take for himself a lamb, according to the house of his father, a lamb for a household.
4 And if the household is too small for the lamb, let him and his neighbor next to his house take it according to the number of the persons; according to each man's need you shall make your count for the lamb. 5 Your lamb shall be without blemish, a male of the first year. You may take it from the sheep or from the goats. 6 Now you shall keep it until the fourteenth day of the same month. Then the whole assembly of the congregation of Israel shall kill it at twilight.
7 And they shall take some of the blood and put it on the two doorposts and on the lintel of the houses where they eat it. 8 Then they shall eat the flesh on that night; roasted in fire, with unleavened bread and with bitter herbs they shall eat it. 9 Do not eat it raw, nor boiled at all with water, but roasted in fire--its head with its legs and its entrails. 10 You shall let none of it remain until morning, and what remains of it until morning you shall burn with fire.
11 And thus you shall eat it: with a belt on your waist, your sandals on your feet, and your staff in your hand. So you shall eat it in haste. It is the LORD's Passover. 12 For I will pass through the land of Egypt on that night, and will strike all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, both man and beast; and against all the gods of Egypt I will execute judgment: I am the LORD.
13 Now the blood shall be a sign for you on the houses where you are. And when I see the blood, I will pass over you; and the plague shall not be on you to destroy you when I strike the land of Egypt. 14 So this day shall be to you a memorial; and you shall keep it as a feast to the LORD throughout your generations. You shall keep it as a feast by an everlasting ordinance.
The Hebrew word for Feasts is also MOED meaning appointed times. The Hebrew word for convocation is MIQRA meaning a dress rehearsal.
Websters Dictionary defines the word tribulation as: 1. grievous trouble; severe trial or suffering. 2. an instance of this; an affliction, trouble, etc.
Its not difficult to understand why God devastated Egypt with 10 plagues.
Gods purpose in sending all these plagues was Three-Fold
1. He was Judging Egypt and their False gods
2. The Lord used the plagues to liberate the Israelites
3. God was making preparation for the coming of the promised Messiah
God Made a Provision to Protect His People
1. All the lambs were to be selected on the 10th day of the first month.
2. Each lamb was to be an unblemished year-old male sheep or goat.
3. They were to keep it until the 14th day of the same month.
4. Then at twilight, the whole assembly of Israel was to kill the lambs.
5. Its blood was to be put on the doorposts and lintel of the houses in which the lamb was to be eaten.
6. The whole lamb had to be roasted and eaten that same night along with unleavened bread and bitter herbs.
7. None of the lamb could be left until morning. Whatever was not eaten was to be burned with fire.
8. They were to eat it in haste with loins girded (their robes pulled up and tucked into their belts), sandals on their feet, and their staff in their hand. The goal was to be ready to leave at any moment.
The Lord explained that this was His Passover!
Exodus 12:12-14 12 For I will pass through the land of Egypt on that night, and will strike all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, both man and beast; and against all the gods of Egypt I will execute judgment: I am the LORD.
Faith in the truth of Gods Word is still Essential for Salvation Today
John 14:6 Jesus said, I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father but through Me.
John 3:3 Unless one is born again he cannot see the kingdom of God.
Hebrews 9:22 Without shedding of blood there is no forgiveness.
Acts 4:12 There is salvation in no one else; for there is no other name under heaven that has been given among men by which we must be saved.
Ezekiel 18:4 The soul who sins will die.
Romans 10:13 Whoever will call on the name of the Lord will be saved.
Forgiveness is only possible if we believe and submit to what God says in His Word regarding Sin, Judgment, and Salvation
The Bible is not an Antiquated Book but one that still Speaks Truth
The scriptures warn us about the coming judgment Hebrews 9:27 It is appointed for men to die once and after this comes judgment
The Bible tells us about sin Romans 3:23 For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God
It describes the consequences of sin Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death
Gods Word shows us the Way of Salvation John 14:6 Jesus said to him, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.
Acts 4:12 Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved."
Acts 2:38-39 38 Then Peter said to them, "Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. 39 For the promise is to you and to your children, and to all who are afar off, as many as the Lord our God will call."
John 3:1-7 1 There was a man of the Pharisees named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews. 2 This man came to Jesus by night and said to Him, "Rabbi, we know that You are a teacher come from God; for no one can do these signs that You do unless God is with him."
3 Jesus answered and said to him, "Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God." 4 Nicodemus said to Him, "How can a man be born when he is old? Can he enter a second time into his mother's womb and be born?"
5 Jesus answered, "Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God. 6 That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. 7 Do not marvel that I said to you, 'You must be born again.'
1 John 1:5-7 5 This is the message which we have heard from Him and declare to you, that God is light and in Him is no darkness at all. 6 If we say that we have fellowship with Him, and walk in darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth. 7 But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin.
