The Story of Liam Whelan, Manchester United's Young Star
Liam Whelan, born in Cabra in 1935, began his football journey with Home Farm before joining Manchester United at 18. Tragically, he perished in the Munich Air Disaster at the age of 22. Despite his short life, he left a lasting legacy, with a bridge in Cabra and a resting place in Glasnevin honoring his memory.

LIAM WHELAN WAS BORN IN CABRA ON APRIL 1ST1935
HE STARTED PLAYING FOOTBALL WITH HOME FARM AND WENT ON TO PLAY FOR MANCHESTER UNITED WHEN HE WAS 18 YEARS OLD.
HE DIED IN AN AIRPLANE CRASH, THE MUNICH AIR DISASTER, IN 1958. HE WAS ONLY 22 YEARS OLD
HE IS BURIED IN GLASNEVIN AND HE HAS A BRIDGE NAMED AFTER HIM IN CABRA
