Theories of social development CRITICAL CROSS-FIELD OUTCOMES: 1. IDENTIFY AND SOLVE PROBLEMS IN WHICH RESPONSES DEMONSTRATE THAT RESPONSIBLE DECISIONS, USING CRITICAL AND CREATIVE THINKING HAVE BEEN MADE. 2. WORK EFFECTIVELY WITH OTHERS AS A MEMBER OF A TEAM, GROUP, ORGANISATION, COMMUNITY 3. ORGANISE AND MANAGE ONESELF AND ONE S ACTIVITIES RESPONSIBLY AND EFFECTIVELY. 4. COLLECT, ANALYSE, ORGANISE AND CRITICALLY EVALUATE INFORMATION. 5. COMMUNICATE EFFECTIVELY USING VISUAL, MATHEMATICAL AND/OR LANGUAGE SKILLS IN THE MODES OF ORAL AND/OR WRITTEN PRESENTATION. 6. PARTICIPATING AS RESPONSIBLE CITIZENS IN THE LIFE OF LOCAL, NATIONAL AND GLOBAL COMMUNITIES. 3. BEING CULTURALLY AND AESTHETICALLY SENSITIVE ACROSS A RANGE OF SOCIAL CONTEXTS. 4. EXPLORING EDUCATION AND CAREER OPPORTUNITIES. 5. DEVELOPING ENTREPRENEURIAL OPPORTUNITIES.
Theories of social development OUTCOMES IN TERMS OF THE CONSTITUTION ALL OF THE OUTCOMES ARE INSPIRED BY THE UNDERLYING PRINCIPLES AND VALUES OF THE CONSTITUTION. THESE OUTCOMES DESCRIBE THE KIND OF LEARNER THAT SHOULD EMERGE FROM THE SOUTH AFRICAN EDUCATION AND LEARNING SYSTEM. THEY ARE THE FOUNDATION OF ALL TEACHING AND LEARNING PROCESSES. EQUALITY IS AN IMPORTANT UNDERLYING VALUE OF THE CONSTITUTION. THIS IS REFLECTED IN THE FACT THAT ALL STUDENTS, FROM ALL BACKGROUNDS, CULTURES, GEOGRAPHICAL AREAS, AND SOCIOECONOMIC GROUPS, ARE SUBJECT TO THE SAME CCFO S AND DEVELOPMENTAL OUTCOMES. THE CONSTITUTION PLACES EMPHASIS ON HUMAN RIGHTS, ESPECIALLY THE RIGHT TO HUMAN DIGNITY. THE DEVELOPMENTAL OUTCOMES DESCRIBE THE KIND OF CITIZEN THAT WILL HOPEFULLY EMERGE FROM SOUTH AFRICAN EDUCATION, AND THEY ARE PARTICULARLY FOCUSED ON STUDENTS RIGHT TO DIGNITY.
Theories of social development DEVELOPMENTAL OUTCOMES WITH REGARDS TO HUMAN DIGNITY, AS UNDERPINNED IN THE CONSTITUTION EXPLORING A VARIETY OF STRATEGIES TO LEARN MORE EFFECTIVELY: LEARNERS ARE REGARDED AS ACTIVE, CRITICAL, INDEPENDENT AND RESPONSIBLE FOR THEIR OWN LEARNING. IT SHOWS THE HIGH EXPECTATIONS THAT THE CURRICULUM PLACES ON LEARNERS, AND REVEALS THE ATTITUDES THAT ALL LEARNERS ARE CAPABLE OF ANYTHING. THIS INVESTS LEARNERS WITH HUMAN DIGNITY, AND GIVES THEM THE RIGHT TO EXPLORE LEARNING STRATEGIES THEMSELVES, WITHOUT HAVING TO RELY ON AUTHORITY FIGURES TO DO IT FOR THEM. PARTICIPATING AS RESPONSIBLE CITIZENS: BEING A RESPONSIBLE CITIZEN INVOLVES SHOWING RESPECT FOR THE OTHER MEMBERS OF SOCIETY. THIS OUTCOME EMPHASISES THE IMPORTANCE OF RESPECTING OTHER PEOPLE S HUMAN RIGHTS, INCLUDING THEIR RIGHT TO DIGNITY. BEING CULTURALLY AND AESTHETICALLY SENSITIVE: THIS OUTCOME PLACES RESPONSIBILITY ON THE LEARNER TO RESPECT THE RIGHTS OF OTHERS, INCLUDING THOSE WHO MAY BE FROM CULTURALLY OR AESTHETICALLY DIFFERENT BACKGROUNDS
Theories of social development EXPLORING EDUCATION AND CAREER OPPORTUNITIES GIVING LEARNERS THE OPPORTUNITY TO EXPLORE THEIR OWN FUTURE GIVES THEM THE RIGHT TO TAKE THEIR FUTURE INTO THEIR OWN HANDS. IT ALSO GIVES THEM THE TRUST AND FAITH THAT THEY ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR THEIR OWN FUTURE. THE IDEA OF BEING IN CHARGE OF ONE S OWN FUTURE IS VERY CLOSELY LINKED TO ONE S HUMAN DIGNITY AND THIS OUTCOME SHOWS CONSIDERATION FOR LEARNERS DIGNITY. DEVELOPING ENTREPRENEURIAL OPPORTUNITIES THIS OUTCOME ENCOURAGES LEARNERS TO DEVELOP THEIR OWN OPPORTUNITES, WHICH SHOWS TRUST AND HOPE IN THEM. THIS WILL BUILD THEIR DIGNITY, WHICH IS A BASIC HUMAN RIGHT ENTRENCHED IN THE CONSTITUTION.
