THIRSTING AFTER GOD
MEMORY VERSE As the hart panteth after the water brooks, so panteth my soul after thee, O God , Psalm 42:1 TEXT: Psalm 42:1-11;43:1-5; 44:1-26;45:1-17.
To thirty means to desire ,want, need, or long for something or somebody. Thirsting after God is when a friend of Jesus desires to be like Jesus and be in His presence every day. Human beings naturally desire food and water to live; a child of God should desire to be like Jesus. The friend of Jesus must thirst after Jesus and His presence.
In the World, sinful boys and girls desire a lot of things such as attending parties, watching bad movies, putting on worldly clothes, playing bad games and many other things that displeases God. But friends of Jesus who are washed in the precious blood of our saviour and Lord should thirst to be in the house of God, be like Him and obey Him like the Psalmist in Psalm 42:1-2. who says As the hart panteth after the water brooks, so my panteth after thee, O God . My soul thirsteth for God , for the living God. When shall I come and appear before God?
A born again child whose heart pants after God will be obedient to God and His word, his/her parents and seek to do things that make God happy . Although, not every child can thirst after God because of bad behaviour like fighting, stealing, cheating in School examinations, lying, watching bad movies, playing bad games and many other bad things that make God angry.
A sinful child needs to come to Jesus in repentance by taking the following steps: i. Realize yourself as a sinner ii. Confess all sins to Jesus iii. Ask God for forgiveness and cleansing through the blood Jesus. iv. Forsake all sins v. Invite Jesus into your heart and life vi. Believe that Jesus has saved you, and vii. Continue to walk in newness of life with Jesus.
There are blessings that friends of Jesus will enjoy when they live a holy life and long after God every day. a) Answers to prayers b) More grace to live a holy life and spiritual growth c) Divine provision and protection d) Divine healing and good health e) Heaven at last with stars and crown.

LESSONS: Thirsting after God is the most important things to do in life. THOUGHT: I will thirst after God on a daily basis and live a holy life to enjoy God s blessings. ACTIVITY: Pray for grace to thirst and live for Jesus everyday. HOME WORK: Children should write three things they will do daily to make God happy.
