CITIZENS COMMISSION ON SALARIES FOR ELECTED OFFICIALS

Salary Commission Information Members 10-member commission Six members selected by lot by the County Auditor from among registered voters, two each from the three County Commissioner Districts Four members selected by the Board of County Commissioners to represent the following four sectors of the community: business, legal profession, professional personnel management, and organized labor Members serve four year terms. No member may serve more than two terms
Salary Commission Information Meetings Commission meets the third Monday, June through December, at 6:00 p.m. Meetings held at the Thurston County Offices, 3000 Pacific Ave, SE, Olympia, Board Room #110 Authority Chapter 36.17 RCW, Chapter 2.118 Thurston County Code
Commission Role & Responsibilities To set salaries for the Thurston County Board of County Commissioners Recommend to the Board of County Commissioners the salaries of the elected Assessor, Auditor, Clerk, Coroner, Prosecuting Attorney, Sheriff, and Treasurer
Human Resources Staff Support Kimberly Grable, Recording Clerk Arrange meetings, draft agendas, and prepare and distribute meeting materials. Take minutes of meetings Maria Aponte, HR Staff Receive requests from Commission on data desired to analyze salaries; oversees collection of data.
Human Resources Role & Responsibilities Research, develop, and provide information, data, and materials for consideration in salary setting deliberations and decisions Salaries of elected officials in comparable counties Salaries for other Thurston County executive positions, i.e. County Manager, Assistant County Manager, Department Directors, Chief Deputies of Elected Officials Cost of living increases awarded to represented and non- represented Thurston County employees Consumer Price Index (CPI) data
