  1. Welcome to the Title I Meeting for Parents 2020-2021 Oneida CSD School District

  2. Why are we here? All Title I schools are required to hold an annual meeting for Title I parents for the purpose of informing you of: Our school s participation in the Title I Program The requirements of Title I, Part A How parents and families can be informed and involved (Parent s Right to Know)

  3. What does it mean to be a Title I School? Being a Title I school means receiving federal funding to supplement the school s existing programs. The funds are used to: - identify students experiencing academic difficulties and providing timely assistance to help students meet NYS standards - purchase supplementary materials and supplies - conduct parent involvement and engagement meetings - recruit/hire/retain highly qualified teachers Being a Title I school also means encouraging parental involvement and advocating for parents rights.

  4. What is the Parent and Family Engagement Policy This policy addresses how the school will implement the parental involvement requirements of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act. It includes - The school s expectations for parents - How the school will involve parents in decision making - How the school will work to build the schools and parents capacity for strong parental involvement to improve student academic achievement Title I parents have the right to be involved in the development of the school s Parent and Family Engagement Policy.

  5. What is the School-Parent Compact? The compact is a commitment from the school, the parent, and the student, to share in the responsibility for improved academic achievement. Title I parents have a right to be involved in the development of the School-Parent Compact.

  6. What can I do as a parent to support my child s education?
