Title I Annual Parent Meeting September 2, 2021 10:00am and 6:00pm What is a Title I School? Shirley Hills Elementary is identified as a Title I School as part of the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA). Title I is designed to support State and Local reform efforts tied to the challenging State academic standards to improve teaching and learning for students. Title I programs must be based on effective means of improving student achievement and include strategies to support family engagement. How does our school spend Title I money? Family Engagement Coordinator, Technology, and Staff Development What are our Title I School Wide requirements? School Wide Program What are our School Wide Goals? All K-5 graders will advance to the next grade in the fall of 2022 reading on grade level in fluency, comprehension and collaboration, and vocabulary acquisition use. All K-5 grade students will increase their writing fluency. All students in grades K-5th will be able to perform basic math operation such as addition, subtraction, multiplication and /or division and score level 2 or higher on the GMAS. This plan describes the different ways we will support family engagement and how parents can help plan and participate in events and activities to promote student learning at home and school. What is the School - Parent Grade Level Compact? The Compact is an agreement that explains how families, teachers and students will work together to make sure all students reach their grade level standards. The performance standards provide clear expectations for instruction, assessment, and student work. The performance standards isolate and identify the skills needed to use the knowledge and skills to problem-solve, reason, communicate, and make connections with other information. They also tell the teacher how to assess the extent to which the student knows the material or can manipulate and apply the information. The performance standard incorporates the content standard, which simply tells the teacher what a student is expected to know (i.e., what concepts he or she is expected to master).
