This lesson focuses on understanding partial sections, sectional elevations, and the significance of floor and room heights in architectural design. To grasp these concepts, we explain how partial sections create limited views based on section lines, the meaning of sectional elevations concerning vertical planes through buildings, and the measurements that define the height of rooms and floors. Each concept is integral to architectural drawings and building design.

  1. Welcome

  2. Todays lesson:- Ch-5: SECTION 5.5 Explain partial section (part section) 5.6 Explain sectional elevation. 5.7 Explain floor height and room height.

  3. Learning outcome- 5.5 To be able to explain partial section (part section) 5.6 To be able to explain sectional elevation 5.7 To be able to explain floor height and room height.

  4. 5.5 Explain partial section (part section) Partial section. Creates a section view that is limited by the length of the section line if the line does not span the entire view. Slice section. Shows only the faces cut by the section line.

  5. Partial section

  6. 5.6 Explain sectional elevation A sectional elevation of a building is an elevation when seen through a vertical plane cutting through the part of the building. See the image below for a better understanding. A part of the building is seen in a section and the rest of the building is seen in elevation.

  7. sectional elevation

  8. 5.7 Explain floor height and room height. HEIGHT OF A ROOM (OR FLOOR HEIGHT . Means the vertical distance measured from the finished floor surface to the finished ceiling/slab surface. The height of a room with a pitched roof means the average height between the finished floor surface and the bottom of the caves and the bottom of the ridge.

  9. Next lesson: Ch-6: DESIGN PRINCIPALS IN ARCHITECTURE 6.1 Define Art and Architecture. 6.2 Define design.
