How is the second sentence different from the first? What changed? What feeling does each sentence give you? What tone words do you notice? What is the tone of each sentence?
USE YOUR TONE WORDS HANDOUT TO FILL IN THE BLANKS The dog barked at the squirrel (fill in a tone word [verb] here) outside the door. The lady thought the dog was barking at her and (fill in a tone word [verb] here).
What feeling does each sentence give you? What tone words do you notice? What is the tone of each sentence? How is each example different from the other? What changed? What feeling does each example give you?
