ISPESH 2023 PHYSICAL EDUCATION Physical Education, Sports and Health in schools is not only a form of effort to maintain students' physical fitness but also functions as a means to foster the sports values contained therein, such as courtesy, honesty, discipline, sportsmanship, a sense of responsibility, never giving up and healthy lifestyles (Putrantana, 2018). Physical education is essentially education that actualizes all a person's activities in the form of attitudes, actions and works that are given form, content and direction to the whole individual in accordance with human ideals. Physical education is often defined as an educational process through physical activity, sports games of choice to achieve educational goals (Arifin, 2017). CHARACTER Character refers to human behavior related to God Almighty, oneself, fellow humans, the environment and nationality which is manifested in thoughts, attitudes, feelings, words and actions based on religious norms, law, etiquette, culture, and customs. A system of instilling character values in school members which includes components of knowledge, awareness or will, and actions to implement these values, both towards God Almighty, oneself, fellow individuals, the environment and nationality so that they become human who has noble morals (Rismayanthi, 2011) Character is a moral concept, which consists of a number of characteristics that can be formed through sports activities, including: compassion, fairness, sportsmanship, integrity (Setyaningsih, 2017) INTRODUCTION INTRODUCTION
ISPESH 2023 TRADITIONAL GAMES Literally the word traditional is defined as a natural action or behavior that arises from the needs of ancestors, traditional is synonymous with the way of life of a particular community. Traditional games are not only a means of entertainment, but are also beneficial for groups and tribes, and are a means of entertainment for all groups. It also helps improve physical fitness, especially agility skills (Putra et al., 2022). Traditional games include elements such as running, jumping, jumping, hitting, catching and There are many other movement elements contained in traditional games. Therefore, the elements and values contained in this traditional game are very suitable for achieving the goals of character-based physical education in elementary schools (Rachmawati et al., 2020). ISPESH 2023 METHODS The method applied in this study uses the Systematic Literature Review (SLR) approach using PRISMA analysis. The steps in the SLR are such as the identification, selection, evaluation, and synthesis of existing scientific literature in a systematic manner. ISPESH 2023 DISCUSSION The research results show that traditional games can be said to be effective in forming honest and disciplined character in elementary school students, as well as the importance of character education from an early age to form individuals who are virtuous and responsible. (Susanto 2017) The traditional game gatrik plays an important role in shaping students' character by instilling values, encouraging positive behavior, and encouraging holistic development. Teacher involvement and guidance is very important in utilizing traditional games effectively for character education in schools. (Awaludin et al., 2022) Based on large-scale trials, the traditional game model received good assessments from participant teachers and material experts, with increased total character scores, especially in the aspects of cooperation, honesty, self-confidence and caring for others. In addition, the results of the effectiveness test show that the traditional game model can be effective in building student character, with most of the results being very good and meeting the desired criteria. (Widodo & Lumintuarso, 2017) This research shows that the traditional game Goteng has the potential to be an effective tool in building the character of upper elementary school students. (Kurniawan and Zawawi 2017) This research show that physical education learning based on traditional games is said to be effective in forming the character values of cooperation, honesty and responsibility in elementary school students. (Ardiansyah, Rejeki, and Dewi 2022)
ISPESH 2023 CONCLUSION Based on the literature review above, it can be concluded that traditional games are very effective in shaping the character of elementary school students, especially in the context of physical education (Penjas). Traditional games not only function as a means of entertainment, but also as a means of education that is able to internalize important values such as discipline, cooperation, responsibility, honesty and sportsmanship in students. Apart from that, traditional games are also considered cultural heritage which can improve students' physical fitness and motor skills. In Physical Education learning, traditional games offer a practical and fun way to teach character values. Through this activity, students can easily understand and apply moral and ethical values in everyday life. This research also shows that traditional games can be adapted and developed for various age groups and educational levels, making them a flexible and versatile tool in educational character.
