  3. Background The Interdepartmental Committee on Trails and Nova Scotia Trails Federation formed Trails Strategy Coordinating Group (TSCG). Fulfills Goal #1 of the Shared Trails Strategy: Strengthen Alignment, Leadership and Collaboration of Trails Organizations. Launches additional collaboration and leadership to guide/shepperd the STS implementation.

  5. Highlights Since Spring 2020 Recruit 14 TSCG designates from across the sector. Developed backbone functions with CCH, LoF and NSTF staff to host, hold and develop energy. Conducted 1 on 1 orientations/welcome. Launched first online gathering via zoom on May 7th 2020. Hired Facilitator to guide the first 4 two- hour gatherings. Approved TOR, Selected a Chair(s), and crafted Communications Plans. Established Web Platform with NSTF. Crafted 7 vignettes of TSCG members to raise energy and awareness. Develop a tracking tool to monitor actions and programs. Designed Infographics of TSCG s directions and priorities for public viewing.

  6. Highlights Since Spring 2020 .. Prioritized STS into 3 areas for 2020 and 2021: Funding Streams, Baseline Research, and Promotions. Established 3 task teams to dive into the 3 priority areas. Developed 3 Case Studies on Funding Challenges from the perspectives of a Destination Trail, a Funder, and a Coalition. Developed a briefing on the importance of the Trail Insurance program. Developed evaluation framework for TSCG based on process and impact. Launched Video Challenge with Task Teams. Initiated Collaboration with Center for Geographic Sciences. Initiated Stakeholder Survey to discover who is collecting research on trail users. Looking at a communications piece for October s Mi'kmaq history month. Reviewing what a culture of trail etiquette would look like.

  7. How Do We Know If We Are Doing Well? TSCG has gathered 9 times via zoom. The task teams have met 6 times during TSCG meetings and once individually. Conducted 5 post meeting evaluations to gauge support, direction and feedback.

Successes Good processes for zoom calls Good Decision making around frequency of meetings, developing task teams Quick prioritization of goals to get the energy going Evaluation of meetings are telling us that we are heading in the right direction, well paced, and have established some trust. Evaluation is telling us that people are being heard, the learning is worthwhile and we are doing actions.

  10. Challenges .. getting 100% participation. doing the work vs guiding the work - around evaluating the strategy what do we measure, how do we measure and what does it mean? online platform holding attention and getting good discussions.
