Post-World War II, China underwent significant changes with Mao's communist leadership, the Great Leap Forward, Cultural Revolution, and Tiananmen Square protests. Simultaneously, the creation of Israel through Zionism and UN's partition of Palestine in 1948 stirred regional conflicts and global attention.

Transformation of China & The Creation of Israel Two Countries Created Due to WWII & Influential in the Cold War
The Peoples Republic of China Civil War continued after WWII 1946-1949 Mao becomes the communist leader of China The communists promise changes: Price controls Redistribution of land Large-scale industrial development Increase literacy File:Flag of the People's Republic of China.svg
The Great Leap Forward Created group farms known as communes. Thousands of people farmed and lived together in dormitories. Poor planning & severe droughts brought widespread starvation. The program ended in 1960 to the tune of over 20 million casualties.
The Cultural Revolution Campaign to create an equal society of peasants and workers By purging China of intellectuals, capitalists, and other counterrevolutionaries. The purge was carried out by the Red Guards They imprisoned, tortured, and executed civilians Destroyed art, antiquities, & materials of China s heritage.
Tiananmen Square Public plaza in city of Beijing, was the site of the 1989 protests for democratic reform. More than a million protested. Tanks & troops entered Beijing to suppress the protest: killing & injuring thousands of protesters.

Zionism Zionists sought to unite Jews around the world and settle them in a new Jewish nation-state. The Balfour Declaration (1917), the British promised to support the Zionists, but could not work out a plan. The Holocaust resulted in the deaths of six million Jews created massive support
Creation in 1948 In May, the United Nations called for the partition of Palestine into a Jewish state. The day after Israel was declared a state six countries invaded: Egypt, Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon, Saudi Arabia, and Syria.
