Purpose - Seeking a lead club for Rwandan Projects Two Part Presentation Cervical Cancer Testing - Louise Patterson Children s Medical Clinic - Rogers Kimuli of JHA Women s Empowerment Advocacy (WEA) Journey House Actions (JHA) Children s Medical clinic in Gashora Rwanda Hope for Health Initiative Provide basic medical care to children attending JHA s two Early Development Centers Cervical cancer testing in remote areas in Rwanda
Hope for Health Initiative Identification of cervical cancer patients in Rwanda remains a challenge despite strong cervical cancer programs in place. limited awareness and knowledge about the importance of screening and early detection, limited access to healthcare facilities (financial and geographical barriers/long distance), cultural and social norms including fear, stigma taboos, and misconceptions around the screening process, and inadequate integration of screening program within other healthcare services. Create cervical cancer screening demand, facilitate hard-to-reach women in the village Distribution model involves local community health workers (CHWs) to led community mobilization, and coordinated regular screening at health centres/posts and linking them to treatment programs Pilot will be rolled out at the children s medical clinic in Gashora
Childrens Medical Clinic in Gashora Project s main objectives. To provide the medical/Health services to the ECD children & Children from the poor households and the poor students of Gashora Sector. Diagnostic and treatment of commonly occurring diseases and ailments of children and outdoor, indoor and pediatric Diagnostic services. To provide trainings on Mother and Child Health Care Service to any one who seeks for it, and under privileged including localities. Journey House Actions will support qualified pediatric healthcare workers and supply basic medicines for the clinic Educational activities aimed at prevention and management of diseases as well as counseling will be provided to local population especially parents/guardians of the children by trained staff that will be provided by the Sector authorities in collaboration with Journey House Actions management
Solution ship donated medical equipment and supplies to Rwanda Donated medical equipment and supplies from NGOs based in Vancouver (list of equipment is available) Health for Humanity Rotary World Helps Shipping container to be filled with donated items Cost of Cdn$10,000 from the Port of Vancouver to the Port of Das es Salaama Tanzania Cost of customs duty and road transportation from the Port of Das es Salaama to Kigali to be delivered to the Rotary Club of Gasabo estimate of US$2,000+/-
