  1. Timelines to be made explicit in relation to the demands presented The stakeholders involved in the transformation of the transport sector to be identified How are we going to transition to Electric Vehicles with loadshedding? The issue of the use of Electric Vehicles and the possible emissions to be further explored and elaborated The importance of safety and security in the public transport sector should be made clear, in order to address vandalism and violence as well as harassment on public transport particularly experienced by woman Security must be improved in taxi ranks, bus stops, train stations and on trains In house security is preferred over private security Integrated public transport to be highlighted as a key demand as the public transport system is fragmented Rationalised route of public transport, fares to be common, infrastructure to be improved and made accessible The experience of the world cup 2010 should be explored as this illustrated how the transport system can be integrated, safe, efficient and reliable

  2. The taxi industry can be given more incentives in relation to their inclusion in the economy The taxi industry to be legislated, unionised and professionalised Law enforcement is an essential part of the transformation of the taxi industry, this is to ensure transformation is not compromised due to possible resistance by the taxi industry Infrastructure development should be prioritised to ensure suitable routes are established for the taxi industry including the establishing of clearly marked stops Emphasis should be given on the importance of affordable and cheaper public transport The rail system to be improved and revived as an alternative to the road freight threats presented A campaign for the revival of railways to be established, this should be for both freight and passengers Climate change is happening now therefore workers need to start building campaigns and advocate for the demand that public transport is efficient and integrated Workers to articulate the need for an effective and integrated public transport system Education and training on issues of climate change and the just transition at an understandable level for workers is important. Workers being able to clearly articulate what the just transition means for them in the transport sector Advocating for decent working conditions across the transport sector Unions can be seen as a vehicle for overcoming capitalism and therefore should be at the center of the just transition discussion

  3. The commission has aligned with the demands presented in the report; however, the following suggestions were made: Demand 11 Security on public transport: demand should specify that this is security that is meant to be inhouse as private security is usually outsourced Demand 20 Charging infrastructure, associated with current petrol stations: demand should expand and ensure that petrol stations adapt to the electrification of vehicles, as well as to that these stations do not become ghost stations and ensure adaptation of these stations in the long term the establishment of rapid charging stations at current petrol stations along Long-Distance routes must be incentivized. Demand 9 Integrate different modes of public transport into a single system: the integrated modes of public transport is an immediate demand and should be given priority including integrated public transport policies that are implementable Demand 10 Realign subsides to support taxi industry with decent work conditions and Demand 11 Security on public transport: It is important to ensure that all stakeholders give a commitment to ensuring that we have safe, reliable public transport and infrastructure The automotive employment sector should not be destroyed by delaying the move to electrification, a domestic market to be advocated for on a municipal level This may involve established timelines on the ending of the use of petrol/diesel driven cars by municipalities The nationalisation of the integrated modes of transport is important and will address the issue of ownership
