Design context Famous pirates used to bury their treasure to keep it hidden This included coins, jewellery and other priceless items Can you think of any other examples of buried treasure?
Design brief Using the BBC micro:bit: Design a programmable device that can be used to find pieces of hidden treasure You will then use your device as part of a timed treasure hunt
Design criteria Your device must be able to: Show when the treasure has been found on the screen Make a sound when the treasure has been found It could also: Show how far away the treasure being looked for is on a scale of 0 (right on top) to 9 (a long way away)
Your tasks (route 1) Go to https://makecode.microbit.org Click on new project Write your code to meet the brief Check it works on screen (simulate) Download it to your micro:bit Find the treasure!
Your tasks (route 2) Go to https://makecode.microbit.org Drag the range:bit HEX file into the project homepage to open it Check it works on screen (simulate) Download it to your micro:bit Find the treasure!
Extension 1) Add another block that beeps with a higher frequency the closer you are to the treasure 2) Think about how you could speed up the changing of the radio group so you can find the treasure faster
