Customer reported an issue with AM3357 and TLK105 PHY where Ethernet communication stops when the LAN cable is disconnected or disturbed, leading to MII_TXEN signal not being sent. Register dump comparisons show differences during the issue. Need to investigate CPSW operation and reasons for TXEN stoppage in TI SDK-based custom firmware.

  2. Issue summary Customer reported an issue in the market. AM3357 + TLK105 (PHY) are used. MII interface, 10M (10Base-T) connection. Ethernet communication (FL-net*) stops and the device does not respond to Ethernet anymore. The issue happens when LAN cable is disconnected during communication. Or communication is disturbed by an external factor (see slide#3). Customer was able to reproduce the issue with different PHY (DP83822). When the issue occurs, no MII_TXEN signal is sent by AM3357. FL-net application and TCP/IP stack are still running, so periodical data transfer is expected.   3. Test environment The customer product is connected to Optical Transmission Device. The issue happens either; a. LAN cable is disconnected b. Block the optical communication by inserting hand in between The issue is gone either; a. The whole board is reset (Red box in below figure) b. Only PHY is reset. PHY is not initialized again (works with default settings) . Customer Product b.   4. Register dump CPSW registers and PHY registers are below. Values at normal operation are compared with values when the issue happens. Red values show differences. When the issue happens RX CRC Errors are detected (0x4A10_0910). Does this affect CPSW operation? (MII_TXEN stops) Are there any other points customer needs to check? What makes CPSW stop sending TXEN? Please note that their firmware is based on TI SDK, but TCP/IP and FL-net application are custom. TI Information Selective Disclosure 4
