The 2 Year National Qualifications course in Physical Education in Hillhead High School affords pupils the opportunity to gain a broad and rich experience in the process of Performance Development. Pupils will experience a sampling based approach that encompasses the 4 key areas of the course: Factors and Features Approaches to Gathering Information Approaches to Developing Performance Approaches to Monitoring and Evaluating Performance These areas will be split up into 4 blocks and will be studied in both practical and classroom based environments. In S4 pupils will have two practical periods and one classroom period and in S5 two practical periods and two classroom periods. This will provide a well balanced and an appropriate amount of time for the completion of the mandatory course content and it s assessments. The development of practical performance will be on-going throughout the 2 year course and lead to pupil personalisation and choice for the One Off Performance Course Assessment component.

  4. Pupils gain a broad understanding of Factors Impacting on Performance. Pupils experience a range of activities across S4 (Badminton, Basketball, Gymnastics, Volleyball, Table Tennis), allowing for identification of possible one off performance activity in S5. Builds on the experiences gained in the Broad General Education / S3 PE studies elective. A range of pupil and teacher evidence collated in S4 (E.g, on-going practical performance; end of block tests; pupil assignment related to possible One Off Performance activity). Broad range of factors and features investigated. Broad range of approaches to gathering information completed. Broad range of approaches to developing performance completed. Broad range of approaches to monitoring and evaluating performance completed. End of S4 prelim based on the application of knowledge learned over year. Option for added value unit to be banked for those pupils identified at National 4 level. Skills for learning, life and work.

  5. Block 1 that Impact on Performance in physical activities. They will investigate the positive and negative impact of each Factor and the link between Factors. Block 1 Factors and Features Factors and Features Pupils will be introduced to the four Factors Block 2 Pupils will learn about how they can gather information on the four Factors. They will investigate what information these approaches find out and also the reasons for using these approaches. Block 2 Approaches to Gathering Information on Factors and Features Approaches to Gathering Information on Factors and Features Block 3 they ways they can improve their performance and also the reasons for using these approaches. Block 3 Approaches to Developing Performance Approaches to Developing Performance Pupils will learn about Block 4 learn about how they can track improvements in performance and also the reasons for using these approaches.   6. Completion Pupils will be complete the Factors Impacting on Performance Booklet in an activity selected by the teacher. Pupils must pass all outcomes within the booklet to be eligible for the Course Assessment at their level of presentation. Completion of Factors Impacting on Performance Unit Assessment Booklet of Factors Impacting on Performance Unit Assessment Booklet Completion of One Off Performance (60% of the Course Assessment) Pupils will be assessed in an activity of their choice and be required to detail how they plan to prepare for their performance and provide an evaluation of how they felt it went. Completion of One Off Performance (60% of the Course Assessment) Preparation for Exam (Higher; 40% of the Course Assessment) start to prepare for the exam and learn how to address the command words when answering questions.
