UAE Rankings in International Studies and Reports A number of recently published international studies demonstrate the UAE s favourable performance from an international perspective across various ICT indicators
2016 Networked Readiness Index (NRI) The UAE is ranked 1st of all the Arab states in the 2016 Networked Readiness Index (NRI) study issued by the World Economic Forum, and 26th among all 139 countries assessed. The NRI measures the capacity of an economy to fully leverage ICT for increased competitiveness and development. The NRI study was published in The Global Information Technology Report 2016 and is based on data collected by organizations such as the International Telecommunications Union (ITU), the World Bank, and the United Nations (UN). Internationally, the UAE is ranked: In terms of the individual indicators analysed, the UAE ranked first among the Arab states in terms of: International internet bandwidth; Business-to-consumer Internet use; E-Participation Index; Secure Internet servers; Software piracy rates; Intensity of local competition.
Internationally, the UAE is ranked: 1st in ICT use and Government efficiency; 1st in mobile network coverage, in terms of the percentage of the population covered; 1st in the importance of ICT to Government s vision; 1st in Government success in ICT promotion; 2nd in Government procurement of advanced technologies; 4th Mobile phone subscriptions per 100 inhabitant; 4th in the impact of ICT on access to basic services; 4th ICT use of Business to Business transactions; 4th in laws relating to ICTs; 6th Use of virtual social networks
Internationally, the UAE is ranked: 7th in the impact of ICTs on business models; 7th in firm level technology absorption; 9th in Mobile broadband subscriptions per 100 inhabitant; 9th in internet access in schools; 9th The availability of latest technologies; 10th in the impact of ICTs on organisational models; 11th in Households with internet access; 12th in Individuals using internet; 12th in Government Online service Index.

2017 ICT Development Index (IDI): The International Telecommunications Union (ITU) has launched the 2017 edition of its report Measuring the Information Society (MIS). The MIS report, which has been published annually since 2009, features key ICT data and benchmarking tools to measure the information society, including the ICT Development Index (IDI). The IDI captures the level of ICT developments in 176 economies worldwide and compares progress made during the last year. The UAE is ranked 40th in the world. This was the 3rd highest ranking among all the GCC and Arab states. One of the key finding of the report is that UAE ranked as one of the highest in the world in the mobile cellular sub-basket* * Mobile telephony sub-basket (USD$ as a percentage of GNI per capita). World Economic Forum: Global Competitiveness Index GCI 2017/2018 A recently published report by World Economic Forum based its competitiveness analysis on the Global Competitiveness Index (GCI), a comprehensive tool that measures the microeconomic and macroeconomic foundations of national competitiveness. The competitiveness index is determined by measuring 12 sets of indicators, which include Technological Readiness and Innovation. The UAE has been ranked 17th out of 137 countries for the GCI 2017-2018 & has been ranked 1st of all the Arab states

The UAE ranked 4th in the world in quality of overall infrastructure. The UAE ranked 4th in the world in Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) and technology transfer (investment bringing new technologies).

The UAE ranked 10th in the world in firm-level technology absorption.
